AN: I didn't get a chance to edit this, but for all of you Americans out there, Happy Fourth!! For anyone else, happy...weekend or whatever. xD
I hope you all enjoy this chapter. It's short and kind of uneventful, but it's highly important.
Dedications for comments. :)
--Raegyn's POV--
I wake up to a constant pounding in my head and an unnaturally dry mouth. Raising a hand to my forehead, as if it would stop the drumming, I sit up in my bed. I am thankful that I didn't get completely trashed and end up lost in an alley or something.
I want to get up and brush my teeth because the nasty feeling in my mouth is all I can focus on, but I don't feel like moving an inch. Instead, I try to remember every minute of last night's events. It doesn't take too much, since I'd only had three cups, but there are still a couple things that seem a little fuzzy.
I remember my encounter with Patrick, that sleaze. I remember finding Bryce and that new chick kissing on the couch, which was highly disgusting, might I add. Then I remember running into Alec after I checked out the laundry room, then that made me remember how he asked me to tutor him.
I can feel how angry I was. I'm not even that focused on the fact that he was asking for help, which he never did as a kid. I don't know why I was so mad. I thought I was over the whole thing, but now, for some reason, I'm just as mad as I was after my dad died. I was so angry at him because he was the one person I felt most comfortable telling my feelings to. He was the only one who could actually get me to confess those ridiculous things without making me feel like I was actually doing just that. When I needed him the most, he was gone.
I decide to push him the deepest part of my mind, so he won't show up anytime, soon. I don't need any more problems and that's exactly what he is; a problem.
Finally deciding that I should actually get out of bed, I drag my feet to the bathroom in my room, which I was thankful for. It has saved me from encountering my mom. If I had to actually leave my room to get to the bathroom, I'd have to walk past her room to get to it.
I get in the bathroom and turn on the water in my shower, then I do the same to my sink. I brush my teeth and get undressed. The steam has already fogged up half of the mirror by the time I actually get in the tub. I've always loved hot showers. As a little kid, I never hated hot water; I always found it soothing.
After massaging my head with my suave shampoo, I wash my face. Then, I rinse out the shampoo and put conditioner on the ends of my hair. I never put it on my scalp because it makes my hair extra oily, so I just focus it on the ends. I tie it in a knot, so I could shave my legs without it getting in the way. I shave both of my legs and then wash the rest of my body. After my body is cleaned, I finally take my hair down and comb through it, before I rinse out the conditioner. I spend a few more minutes in the shower, just standing under the running water because I love the feeling. In the midst of my euphoria, I hear a faint ringing sound; the doorbell.
Groaning, I turn the shower off and quickly rub most of the excess water off of my body before wrapping my hair in the same towel. As I reach for my robe, I step out of the tub. The doorbell rings again.
I get down the stairs, thankful that they're covered in carpet, so I don't slip. I quickly get to the front door and, because I'm in a hurry, I don't bother checking the peephole to see who it is.
When I open the door, I find the one person I least expect to ever show up at my house.
--Alec's POV--
After Raegyn just ran away from me last night without giving me an answer, I decided I'd give her another try. I don't know what made her run away, but I prayed it wasn't actually me and it was something else she had to attend to. She was never forgetful, as far as I remember, but it's been quite a few years, so I don't know if she's developed new habits.
