CHAPTER : 7

Hearing his words and looking at his smile, Paige was stunned to silence, what shocked her was that the person in charge of such a rich and powerful family was actually this much kind.

As he raised his hand and motioned her to sit, she couldn't help but follow his instructions. She silently pinched her hand, suspecting if she was dreaming.

After a few seconds, she recovered from her shock and quickly said, "Hello, I'm Paige Moore."

this time, she wasn't pretending to be dumb, but she was really startled by Harvey Dawson. Her heart was beating so fast that it seemed to be jump out of her chest in the next moment.

"Don't be shy. Now, you are my daughter in law and a member of Dawson family. So just make yourself at home."

As he spoke, he picked up the kettle next to him and poured her a glass of water. His eyes showing an unfamiliar look, most probably kindness, that she never got before.

She had never been treated so gently by her elders, so she was a little surprised and delighted now.

Paige took the glass. "Thank you, sir."

"You can call me Dad just like Joseph." Harvey said while looking at her quietly.

Her appearance was not very beautiful, and her reactions were also very slow. But she looked simple and kind, exactly the woman who fitted his son's weird temper.

".... Dad." Paige called with great difficulty.

Harvey gave her a smile and said apologetically. "You must be wronged because we didn't give a wedding. For that I'm really sorry. I wanted to discuss it with you and Joseph and invite you to the Old Manor today. But, because what happened to his mother, Joseph refused to go to the old Manor. The Dawson Family was a large family that has been passed down for centuries, following the tradition of three generations living together.

As for his mother, there were a plenty of rumors. some says that she was dead. Some said she was not dead. some says she was murdered. And some other says that she ran away with her lover.

But there was a certain thing that's he wouldn't be able to see her mother in law.

After a long silence, Paige looked at Harvey and said hesitantly, "But.......I haven't seen him yet."

She said the last sentence in a very low voice just like a mosquito. But Harvey could still hear her.

After finishing her words, she noticed a slight change of expression in his face.

"Well, let's not bother about him today." After saying that. Harvey didn't ask about Joseph anymore. But he asked a lot of questions about her lifestyle and condition.

Paige answered one by one with honesty, speaking slowly, so they reached quickly.

Owen sent her to the door of the villa, watched Paige go in, and left there. While walking inside the villa, Paige could not help but remember the conversation between her and Harvey. It was no doubt that his tone was light and gentle, but he seemed to dig something as if he was trying to collect some information from her.
