"Are you sure that you are going to be fine?" I asked for the third time as I drove towards the Raichand Oasis, one of the biggest hotels in India.

"For the third time, V, I'm fine. It's not like I haven't gone to work with people I don't like," Piya said with irritation as she adjusted her suit jacket. She was wearing a black suit, looking all professional for her first day at work.

"Now tell me one thing, haven't you found anyone for yourself yet? You're like twenty-seven. Buddhi ho rahi ho tum," I said playfully, trying to make her angry. As expected, her nose and ears turned red, indicating she was mad.

But luckily for me, we reached the hotel.

"Pehele apni life sambhalo, bandar. Khud buddha ho gaya hai, aur mujhe bol rahe ho ki main buddhi hoon," she said while getting out of the car. I chuckled at her irritated expression.

("First take care of your own life, monkey. You've grown old yourself, and you're telling me that I'm getting old.")

"Okay, bye. Don't get fired on the first day," I said while lowering the window glass.

"Don't get killed by your Tanya," she said, giving me a sickeningly sweet smile, which made my smile fall.

I watched as she walked inside the hotel with her head held high, her ponytail bouncing with each step.

I'm so proud of her for becoming the woman she is now.

A ping from my mobile grabbed my attention. I opened my chats and saw it was a message from my mother.

"Tanya will be waiting for you in the Oberoi Mall. Don't mess it up like you always do," the message read. I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat.

Tanya Oberoi is the only daughter of Arun Oberoi, a renowned businessman, my father's best friend, and our family friend. I have known her since childhood because she was also a member of the gang who bullied me. And my not-so-dear mother wants us two to get married. She has been pressuring me to meet the girl for months now. I have avoided the situation, but now I have no option but to meet her. Surprisingly, Tanya is ready to marry me. I doubted her intentions. Thanks to a certain someone who is obsessed with red for giving me lifelong trust issues. My fist tightened around the steering wheel as I thought about her.

For the past four years, I have avoided every situation and any kind of gathering to not meet her. But now I see her everywhere. Due to the wedding functions of Siya and Vikram, I had to tolerate her presence even though I didn't want to be anywhere near her.
