Dove, My Love

🕊️

With you, my soul roamed free
we were pure white doves
gliding blithe against the breeze
soaring 'cross the vast blue above.

Dove,
since the day you fell,
my soul stopped roaming,
these wings fluttered frail.

The remains of your feathers
I witnessed being buried
underneath coarse brown soil.
How I miss your song dearly.
How I hear it still clearly.

Dove,
since the day you fell,
I thought I'd lost you forever.
Mistaken was I, were I to tell.

Your body decays in Earth
but you live through the trees
you bloom through every flower
you breathe through every leaf.

Seasons change, you're still there,
you live through the August air
spiraling the crisp fallen leaves,
nipping at my skin, flowing through my hair.
Dove, my love, you're everywhere
even alone, I don't feel scared.

When my time comes,
I'll join you in the breeze.
We'll soon again, be pure white doves
soaring 'cross the vast blue above.
