Locked Up – Chapter Twenty

Tim Macer

I could've sworn I heard a loud crack as my fist collided with Brad's nose, making him cry out in pain. How dare he to touch a girl like that? I still couldn't believe what I'd seen – he had punched Lily square in the face. He had gone against all my morals my mom once taught me. Women must never be touched like that by a man. Men must never hurt a women in general. And here I was, pinning Brad to the ground while the world was spinning around me to protect Lily.

My hands clamped around his neck, repeatedly slamming Brad's head into the sand beneath it. "What do you think you're doing, huh? Touching L-Lily like that! You're an asshole, Brad, an asshole!" I jerked my knee forward and Brad screamed bloody murder as soon as it made contact with his crotch. "Not so tough now, are we? What's the problem, Brad? Can't you fight back anymore?"

I wasn't thinking straight, but who cares? Brad was trying to wiggle out of my grip, but nothing worked. I grabbed a handful of sand and dumped it on his face without thinking twice, causing the crowd surrounding us to burst out laughing and Brad to cough. Ha! Asshole. "Oh, do you like that? Yes? I think we need a volunteer here – someone who's willing to shit on your face!"

"Alright Tim, that's enough!" a female voice sounded. I averted my gaze to the sneaker cladded feet stopping right next to Brad's struggling body. Although my brain wasn't functioning as fast as it normally would, I managed to connect the right face to the girl's voice.

"Soph.." I started, my gaze travelling up her body to meet her eyes. "Brad punched Lily! He's a stupid bastard for doing that! Do you.. do you think he's gay? Because you told me only gay men were allowed to punch women."

Everyone started laughing again, and in the moment, I could honestly not think of a reason why they did that. I didn't say anything stupid, did I? A flash of pain shot through my stomach, making me snap out of my – now very slow – train of thought. Before I knew it, Brad was on his feet again, only to be pushed backwards by my very own cousin.

"I don't think so, you jerk!" Sophie shouted at him. Brad lost his balance after two seconds of being on his feet and stumbled backwards, right towards the table with the drinks. The crowd knew what was going to happen, Sophie knew it, and even I knew this couldn't end well. An "uh-oh" left my mouth before a loud crash was heard.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Brad shouted. Within seconds, the teenagers moved towards the table to check up on Brad. I caught Sophie mouthing something like 'keep an eye on him and take him home' to Stephanie, who was still holding Lily, before she disappeared into the crowd again, probably to punch or kick Brad till he apologizes for what he had done – or something. I didn't know and I certainly didn't care at the moment.

I just kept lying there with my head in the sand, listening to my own breathing. Along with the waves crashing onto the rocks, it made the perfect song to put me to sleep. Lily knelt down beside me looking all concerned and most of all.. wasted.

"Tim, please, stay with me! Don't leave me alone! I want you to live, Tim!" she pleaded, taking one of my hands in hers. "You're so young! We are so young.. I still want to do so many things with you! A-and it's not all sexual, I promise! I'm not going to rape you or something, you know I'm not that kind of girl. And.. and what about the basketball team? Oh my – you have to keep playing! Please, please, oh god.. I don't want you to die!"

"For God's sake, I'm stuck here with two drunken idiots!" I heard Stephanie mutter as she tried to pull Lily onto her feet, away from me. "Lily, Tim, listen up. You're coming with me and I'm taking you guys home. This is-"
