All children deserve parents. But not all parents deserve children.
...
"Amelia.. our sweet daughter.. it's going to be alright...Mommy loves you..please don't cry.."
That's all she could remember about her mother, her voice was muffled in her mind, her loving embrace, if that even was her mother. Deb always told her that she was her mother, and her only mother. And that she should love her. But Deb wasn't a good mother, quite the opposite actually. But that was the only parent she had, so she should be grateful for Deb. Or.. for a while, "Mrs." Deb, she despised calling Deb "mother", so she created a replacement word to speak to Deb. But god did that woman hate anything other than mother, it was torture.
Mother...
Mom...
Mama...
All of those titles...
Torture..
Amelia, such a wonderful little girl, sweet, kind, young. Deb loved everything about her. She even called her Honey, or Darling as a loving motherly nicknames. But god was it dreadful to be called all those dreaded nicknames by such a horrible woman. Amelia didn't love Deb. Not at all, not even a bit. What that woman did to her could never be forgiven, not even by god themself. Amelia knew that woman was going to hell, the deepest pit of hell, she would wish everyday that she would just drop dead so she could be free..
But... all that wishing could only get you so far in life..
Amelia sat. Sat in her empty room, she felt like garbage, an unwanted burden, but sometimes she felt like the world, like she was actually loved. It was a terrible hot and cold feeling that never went away. She hated the way her body felt after what.. happened.. The girl glanced around her room, staring at her dirty mattress that just lied on the floor, and the empty water bottles scattered around the room, three full bottles lied on her old pillow.
Her legs trembled as she crawled over to the mattress, grabbing a water bottle and twisting the cap open, her hands shaking, scared to spill the water even one drop as she gulped down half the bottle, her dried out mouth getting rehydrated with room temperature tap water, it felt good as it rolled down her throat. She gasped and pulled her mouth of the bottle, panting for air gently as she twisted the cap back on and gently and quietly placed the bottle next to the other ones on her pillow, making sure to straighten out the thin old sheet she was given as a "blanket" by Deb, that fucking freak.
Amelia couldn't help but cuss out the woman in her head, terrified to actually speak as to not get punished again.
The young girl gasped and trembled, glancing at the door as a loud booming knock slammed against the door to her room, Deb bursted through the door with a sick smile on her face.
"Hi sweetheart!!~" Deb's cheery voice filled the empty echoey room, the girl cowered and looked up at her guardian like a scared kitten.
"H-hello mom.." God she could barely even choke out a single word, her voice sounded weak and quiet, as if she hadn't spoken in years.
Deb grinned, everything about her made Amelia sick, her stupid glasses to her messy black hair.. she could never see this woman the same.
"How are you sweetheart? I see you've been punishing all the water I gave you!~" Deb put her hands on her hips proudly and looked around the room, an outsider looking I would think that she was a loving mother with only a few glances at her cheery and kind outside persona. But the moment the word "punishing" escaped her mouth Amelia flinched and was about to brace herself until she snapped back and took a few heavy breaths.
"Y-yeah.. I-i was thirsty.." Amelia grimaced and lowered her head, her eyes going wide as she realized the tone she had muttered out.
Deb's laugh made Amelia feel like she was going to vomit, she hated that stupid laugh.
"Ahaha! I could tell, Honey..~!" She ruffled Amelia's hair, making the minor flinch and cower when she lifted her hand.
Deb harshly grabbed her wrist, tugging the girl to her feet, staring her down.
"It's lunch time." Her tone shifted from a cheery and kind voice to a monotone and almost angry voice. Amelia went quiet and just nodded, she knew that when Deb shifted like this she understood to just stay quiet and obey her, like any good kid should.
As she sat at a makeshift table, eating some random shit that Deb "made" for her, it was all boxed take out, while Deb had luxurious meals with T-bone steaks and expensive seafood, Amelia had plastic.. everything. Plates, forks, knives, spoons. But everything that Deb had was stateless steel, it wasn't fancy but it was certainly better than what Amelia was given. Once she was finished Deb roughly shoved her back into her room, and slammed the door, which made the young girl's stomach sink, she felt sick, the terrible taste of trashy microwaved food filling her mouth, she shakily crawled to her "bed" and lied down, moving the water bottles to the floor and pulling the thin sheet over her small and "terrible" body as Deb put it after that faithful day. It was freezing, but she could handle it at this point, it was a paper cut compared to everything else she's been through.. but she tried to clear her mind to she could actually fall asleep, her head rested on her hands as she lied on her side. The girl shut her eyes and just let the thoughts fade away.
Sleep was the best thing that could happen to Amelia all day, the only time in her life where she could actually relax and let herself go. She didn't have to feel pain for a good 4 hours. It felt... nice.. she shouldn't have those thoughts. But all this was normal right..?
Normal..
Deb liked it when Amelia acted normal for her, but normal was a strange twisted kind of fetish to Deb. But it was all for something, right? Validation, fame, love. Maybe.. Amelia didn't like that last one.. she hated when she was loved.. she felt sick when she was shown love, because the only love she knew was the "love" that Deb showed her. But she should be sleeping, not having deep conversations with the voices in her head..
It must feel nice to be loved normally..
