Chapter 3: The Book

After a while I had decided to join Asteria on searching the place. Who knows what we may find in a tall tower like this! We might find something interesting at that, or maybe not.

Anyways, I searched with Asteria as we looked through cabinets and drawers of this place. Most of them were empty, but sometimes we could find things like pins, clips, or just broken pencils. Not that much but it was at least something. There were also some books scattered across the floor. Even though the books could be useless. It's best to see if there is at least something helpful in these books.

So me and Asteria went ahead and checked out the books to see if there was anything useful for us. And so we searched and searched in the books until a few minutes later we had finally found something.

The cover of the book had a lot of patterns and the title of the book was covered completely. As me and Asteria both looked inside the book, we could tell after looking through the book for a bit that there was a lot of specific information in this book.

One section was about surviving, another section was about the forest, and then another section was about this certain person. It seemed like this person certainly was important if they have their own section in this book. Kinda suspicious if you ask me. Looking through the pages about this person I stop to a page that shows a picture of who they were talking about.

It was a girl that had Dark brown hair that had a bit of a lighter shade of brown at the ends of her hair. She had a uniform on as it was covered with a grey jacket. On her face, she had a drawn eye on top of her forehead with angel wings right next to the ends of her eyes.

It was pretty interesting that this was a photo they would put in a book like this. But who knows, could be important or useless depending if the information here is helpful.

So as the curious person I was of course I went and started to look into the book. But seeing how big the book was, it was definitely gonna take a while. But I'm still gonna read it anyway!

Finally after reading the whole book for 2 hours. I'm still confused about it. There were so many words it all started to jumble up in my head. Also because it started to get darker outside and I could hardly see half of the words sometimes.

But whatever, it's getting late after all. I should go to sleep. But I really don't wanna sleep on the hard wooden floor. But I guess that's our only option for now. Since this tower has almost nothing inside it. It's like the people in the tower started evacuating from something.

I start to lay down on the wooden floor as I slowly close my eyes. Then, everything went blank.

[Asteria's POV:]
I leave from the balcony only to see Aria on the floor asleep. I walk up to her sleeping body as I start to sit down next to her.

I sit there quietly, as the moon and stars glow in the night sky. It was a beautiful night, just like every other night I've experienced in this forest.

I look back at Aria and notice the book that we had found on the ground. I quietly go to grab the book laying next to her and decide to take a look at it.

But suddenly, I start to hear the sounds of footsteps stomping onto the wooden floor. I go ahead and decide to wake up Aria just in case. I have my suspicion that those noises aren't coming from animals. As this tower is so tall it would be impossible for an animal to crawl to the top of it.

I look back at Aria to see her starting to slowly open her eyes. Once she opens them enough to see clearly, she then tiredly looks at me with confusion.

I carefully help her stand up onto the wooden floor. As I do so a loud thump can be heard a few feet behind us. I quickly grab Aria and put her behind my back as I instantly look behind to see who it is. But, there's no one there at all.

I carefully look around to see if there's any evidence of someone here. But there wasn't anything at all. No changes at all. The floor is very dusty, so it's surprising that there's no signs of footprints at all. I'm not ready to stay here any longer after hearing that.

I guide Aria and take the book with me as well. The book feels like it could be very useful later on.
