niko - picnic

"Yn!!" Niko yelled as he saw me walk up a green hill while he was already sitting. The sunset was creating a silhouette of him and the tree he was sitting against, wind hitting against the leaves.

"Hey Niko!!" I yelled back. Today was the 15th, an important day for me and Niko.

The 15th was important because that's the number of the day that me and Niko started going on monthly picnics together, inside picnics for cold weather and outdoors for warm weather.

He patted the grass beside him motioning for me to go sit with him, and a blanket laid out front.

These picnics were the highlight of my month, Niko and I are so busy but make sure to clear our schedules for the 15th, the one day we get to see each other.

I sat next to him and got comfy because I knew we would be here till late. Today we chose to get a bunch of Nandos to eat and I had to bring it, to I set down the food.

"So, yn.. how's life?" "It's been good bro, my channel just hit 2 million subscribers!!" I said still excited about it "Oh my gosh I saw that! I didn't say anything because I want to say it person, but I'm so flipping proud of you."

"Thank you man, I really couldn't have done it without you" I inched closer to him to rest my head on his shoulder and he layed his head on mine.

It was quiet. The breeze and the rustling of small wildlife was all I could hear and it brought a great feeling of serenity and bliss.

"Well what've you been up to? With life and work?" I asked back, curious to hear what he's been doing with his time recently. "You know what I've been doing yn.." he replied.

"What.." concern took over my body "Yn you know what happened.."

Right in front of my eyes his body disintegrated. It's like his being slowly shattered and the remains drifted into the air.

"No... No No!! COME BACK please!!!" Yn screamed, wailing and balling her eyes out. Her surroundings around her shattering into thin air while she runs away from it.

Yn falls to her knees, absolutely sobbing. "I need you Niko..."

Yn awoke in a cold sweat, breathing heavily as she try's to wrap her head around what she just dreamt. She looked around to see where she was and saw her nightstand where she kept a picture of Niko with her.

It was 5:06 am and according to her phone it was the 6 month anniversary of Nikolas Omilanas death.

Today was the day she absolutely dreaded, every time of every month, this day comes and it's like reliving it again. Yn once couldn't wait for this day, the 15th, but now it's the most painful day of them all.

She layed back down on her bed, thinking about Niko.

It was like a part of her heart was ripped out from her chest when yn got that call that the love of her life was stabbed and couldn't be saved in time.

Yn felt so much remorse for everyone in his life, but especially his children. He didn't know it at the time but yn had gotten pregnant and didn't tell Niko in time. So now, Yn was with his child and they won't even get to meet.

...

It was just yn in her apartment, cleaning with a blank mind and turmoil in her heart. She kept randomly breaking down, ruining the makeup she did to try and boost her mood a little bit along with occasional vomiting. Everything from head to toe hurt, inside and out.

5:06 pm. The time she got the call. At this point all she could do was lay down. This was the exact moment she got that call and the sun was setting.

Yn had the urge to go visit his grave. She felt that it was the respectful thing to do, and besides, she had some words to get out after not speaking all day

She arrived at the hill his grave was on, with no other graves near. She stared that the silhouette of the tree, the exact same as the one in her dream.

She walked up the hill and sat next to his grave. Sitting at the same spot as she used to before.

"Hey Niko.." she started off. "I-" yn stopped and felt her eyes well. "I've really missed you Niko. Your touch, your voice, your care for others, your kindness, how considerate you are, your selflessness, your laugh, your humour, everything." Tears fell from her eyes.

"You know you're gonna be a dad in a few months?" Yn laughed and touched her stomach "You would've been such an incredible father.. I'll tell them so many stories about how you were an amazing man"

Yn took a deep breath and wiped her tears "I know you hate seeing me so sad but I just needed to let this out." Yn giggled "Niko you always went above and beyond to make me smile when I'm sad"

She looked at his grave with the flowers and pictures surrounding it. So many important objects were around his grave it was so beautiful.

"I really love you Niko.. I'll always love, cherish, and miss you.." 

Yn walked away with a feeling of clarity and a little more healed.

But she knows she'll never let that man go.
