Night has fallen, and Derek has just walked out of the Hale House ruins towards his Camaro. He opens the door to the car and gets in, starting the engine and driving away, not knowing that Scott, Aurora, and Stiles were watching him from a distance in Stiles' Jeep. Once Derek was a fair distance away from the house, Stiles drove the Jeep closer to the property, parking it so that the three of them could get out with their shovels in hand

Looking at the screen incredulously, they turned their gaze toward the children, who studiously avoided making eye contact

Scott and Aurora look around for a moment until Stiles joins them at the front of the Jeep, leading Aurora to hand him a flashlight before the trio head off toward the side of the house where the recently-overturned patch of earth is located

After a moment, Scott speaks up, sounding concerned, though he doesn't stop walking toward the house with Aurora and Stiles

SCOTT: Wait... Something's different.

Stiles' voice sounds uneasy when he responds

STILES: Different how?

SCOTT: I don't know...

The three finally reach the suspected gravesite, and Scott aims his shovel towards it with a shrug

SCOTT: Let's just get this over with.

Scott jams his shovel into the ground, stomping the spade-end with his foot to push it in further before scooping up some dirt and throwing it aside

AURORA: This is definitely not how I planned my night—digging up a body wasn't on my to-do list, but here we are. At least I can add 'graveyard shift' to my resume.

Isaac laughed, "Well, maybe you can join me on my shifts."

Aurora rolled her eyes, retorting, "Oh sure, because digging up graves sounds like such a blast."

The three work in silence for several minutes as they dig up the grave until Scott, sounding anxious, wipes his brow with his sleeve before he finally speaks up again

SCOTT: This is taking way too long.

Stiles and Aurora roll their eyes, but doesn't stop digging

AURORA: Stop whining and put on your big kid pants

STILES: Just keep going.

SCOTT: [exasperatedly] What if he comes back?

Aurora rolls her eyes, unimpressed, as Stiles shrugs nonchalantly and continues to dig, with Scott following suit

AURORA: Oh, I'm sure if Derek comes back, he'll be thrilled to find us excavating his family's property. Maybe we'll even get a bonus lecture on the importance of respecting the dead

The teenagers exchange amused glances, appreciating Aurora's sharp sarcasm, while the adults let out tired sighs, recognizing the truth in her words but too weary to argue against her wit

Stiles muttered, "Leave it to Rory to find humor in the creepiest situations." Aurora scoffed, shooting Stiles a playful look. "As if you're any different," she retorted

Scott halted his digging at Aurora's reply, taken aback.

SCOTT: Really? Sarcasm at a time like this?

"It's always the right time for sarcasm," Stiles quipped with a smirk

She merely shrugged, unfazed, and continued to dig. With little choice, Scott reluctantly followed suit, joining her in the task at hand.
