The clatter of cutlery and bustle of patrons, did nothing to dampen the amusement that shone between the two women, seated at the best table.Jaeb and Evelyn chatted amiably amongst themselves. It had been six weeks since their son's first official appearance as a married couple.
They giggled together about the events that transpired since the announcement of their marriage.
From the swarming the couple at the airport, barraging the families with questions, requests for interviews and statements. People were getting curiouser and curiouser.
Friends they hadn't spoke to in yonks, all converging to get in good with the parents to gain firsthand gossip or favourability with the families – more so Wongratch's than Pirapat's.
They still weren't brave enough to come up to Evelyn and conjure up an excuse plausible enough to engage in conversation without a hidden agenda."Sorry I'm late darlings." Interrupted a hurrying Banyen.
"That's all right dear, we didn't get here too long ago ourselves." Reassured Evelyn.
Banyen greeted the two with a customary kiss on the cheek before settling into her seat.
"Your outfit's lovely." Said Jaeb, she admired the off the shoulder blush pink dress with asymmetrical buttons down the front, accentuating her curves. With the flared bottom, cut off at the right length for her height. Highlighting the Emerald green Manolo Blahnik pointed mules she wore.
"You're not so bad yourselves." She replied loving Jaeb's multi print tailored bandeau top with matching pleated full midi skirt. Accompanied by real Italian brown leather wedges. Banyen noted the equally understated cream pashmina that hung on the back of a chair.
"This old thing." Jaeb joked.
Evelyn's shoes were equally exquisite. Black sandals each with a mesh bow attached. Her black silk asymmetric one shoulder dress, and neat chignon further catered to her image of elegance.
"You look like you've been busy." Stated Evelyn. Indicating to the various bags, Banyen carried in with her, know standing guard at her feet.
"It's funny you should mention them," she paused, lubricating her throat with a few gulps from her water glass.
"It's sort of because of these I'm late."
