The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the small café in the city's heart. She kept glancing around looking for her friends. She was not in the mood to go out tonight, but her friends convinced her otherwise with a promise of drinks. Devin leaned casually against the counter, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he watched Agnes approach. She was a vision in her simple yet elegant dress, her hair cascading in soft waves around her face.

"Well, well," Devin drawled, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "Look who decided to grace us with her presence."

Agnes rolled her eyes, though a smile played at the corners of her mouth. "Don't flatter yourself, Devin. I'm just here for the drinks."

"Is that so?" Devin's voice was smooth, teasing. "And here I thought you came to see me."

Agnes stepped closer, her eyes locking with his. "Maybe I did," she said, her tone light but her gaze intense. She then grabbed his cup in hand and took a sip,"Or maybe I just knew you'd make a fuss if I didn't."

Devin chuckled, the sound low and warm. "You know me too well, Agnes."

She shrugged, a playful glint in her eye. "Someone has to keep you in check."

Devin's smile widened. "Think what you want to think. But you have to admit, life would be pretty dull without me."

Agnes pretended to ponder this for a moment, her hand on her chin, rubbing it slightly. "You do have a point. I guess I'll keep you around a little longer."

"Generous of you," Devin said, leaning in just a bit closer. "So, what brings you here tonight, really?"

Agnes met his gaze,"I wanted to drink. And I wanted it to be free, so here I am." her expression softening. "And with my dad being home from his out of town business, I needed a night out."

Devin's heart skipped a beat at her admission. "Well, I'm glad you came. We missed you."

For a moment, they simply stood there, the world around them fading away. Then, with a mischievous glint in his eye, Devin reached out and gently tugged a stray strand of hair behind Agnes's ear.

"You know," he said softly, "I've always thought you looked beautiful in the evening light."

Agnes felt a blush creep up her cheeks. "You're such a charmer, Devin."

He grinned. "Only for you."

"Agnes!" Maru yelled out from the middle of the floor, "Come dance with us!"  Devin and Agnes made eye contact before they ran and began to dance to a T-Pain remix that got everyone hyped up.

They spent the rest of the evening talking, laughing, and sharing stories. They were just friends. Two single people drinking together, dancing together, doing what two people who are just friends, who like each other, do.
