Dear admirer,
It has come to my attention that we have been doing this dance for entirely too long. I must admit you are quite the entertaining partner but I fear what the town would think should they discover our exchanges. That being said, this will have to stop immediately. I'm not sure when this will reach you but with the little information you've given me, I believe it will be some time. Thank you for being a wonderful distraction but it is time to face reality. I apologize for the directness and simplicity of this letter but I have nothing to tell you apart from the most pressing, which I have already shared. Have a good life my admirer and may you find what you are looking for in the shadows you hide in.
Sincerely,
Marina Caldwell
My little dove,
I will not stop writing to you. I enjoy this little "dance" of ours far too much. Fear not what the tow may whisper. Our secret would profit no one to be released now. I can assure you that I am a respectable gentleman. One you should not be ashamed of. Tell me what truly troubles you. Our letters have not bothered you before. What has changed? Have you met another suitor? If so I must warn you that the suitor can not compare to me nor will he last long. I must insist that if you are so concerned with what people think, do not fret. I have recently gained something that shall give them pause. There is nobody left to challenge me. I can not tell you now but you will soon learn. Patience, little dove, and all will be fine. I await the day your letter arrives.
Sincerely,Your admirer
Dear admirer,
I hope this letter finds you well and tearing you down is my favorite hobby. I don't care what you have. I don't care where you've come from. I have extremely little interest in you. You are a sea slug leaching off of others. Always lurking in the shadows, watching, waiting, plotting. I won't take part in your games. I have humored you enough and I am not going to do it anymore. I am only writing to respond to your last letter because of the ridiculous notions you wrote down. Do you often speak to others like this? If so I pity them. For the last time, I am not your dove. If you knew me you would know that peace is something that often abandons me. That being said I know you will continue to send your letters so let me tell you something. To win me over I need to know you. Not a persona you boost about through ink and paper across the sea. I would like to know more about you, especially since you seem to think you know me so well. If you want this exchange to continue to happen then persuade me. Why should I read your letters? What will keep them from feeding the flames of my bed warmer?
Sincerely,
Marina Caldwell
My littlest dove,
I see I have upset you. I admit rash decisions are something I expect from you but any of this kind. Do you find my company so dull? What more can I do to prove to you that our exchanges are more than dalliances? I have treated our discussions with the greatest respect, something you have not done apparently. Shame on you. We will have to fix that once I arrive. Yes, you will be seeing me and I hope you are ready when I come. Our courtship is something I plan to continue. Whatever other suitors you may have seen, they are gone before my arrival. I do know many things about you. We have met before, that is my clue for you. I'm sure a lady such as yourself can figure it out. You may not see yourself as a dove but you are my dove. Your letters despite how scathing your words have become are always a reprieve from my day. My dove has always brought peace in our interactions and I know you will continue to. However, if you despise the nickname I can always call you my love instead. You never told me what is truly bothering you.
Sincerely,
Your admirer
Dear Lady Caldwell,
I must extend my apologies. I know you had high hopes for what we could have become and I regret to say we will never be able to achieve those dreams. Before I go I wish to send you my regards. I wish that you can achieve all that you want from this life. I know you want to leave Port Royal and see the world. Should we meet again, know that it would be the greatest honor if you allowed me to show it to you. That being said I am sorry that all of our plans were ruined but you must understand why I could not stay. I have attached the ring to this letter. If the delivery boy is to be trusted you should have my family's ring. It was always yours, the least I could do was give it to you. I'm sorry that you didn't receive it in person but I was not in my right mind when I departed. I'm still not sure I am. You can do what you wish with the ring. I'm sure it would fetch a decent price on the market should you need or want to get rid of it. I am sure you must loathe me and I apologize for hurting you this way. I have failed my promise more than once but I will try to make up for it. It is my deepest wish that you get to see the stars you dream of. Do not bother replying I am seldom in one place these days it will never reach me. Give my regards to your sister and Governor Swann. I'm sorry that we could not do all that we wished.
