The following morning, the sounds of bird chirping and singing their tunes woke Isadora up from her slumber while the rays of sunlight illuminated the room she was staying in. A sense of peace filled her as her body felt lighter as she drifted off to sleep last night, and she had forgotten the horrible nightmare she had experienced moments prior.
As soon as she had regained consciousness, she quickly checked her phone and realized that she had slept in quite late, meaning that she missed almost seven o'clock alarm. Groggily climbing out of the bed and yawning, she stretched her arms above her head.
While stretching her muscles, a piece of paper fell to the floor near her bed, and she picked it up.
Upon inspecting the folded piece of paper, she recognized Vincent's handwriting immediately, and a smile appeared on her face. She unfolded the paper and began scanning through its contents while waiting for her heart to calm down from the scare she had last night.
'Ms. Moretti,
I am glad you're okay. However, you will find a few items of mine that are currently in your possession that would be useful to you, if you were to ever come across any trouble.'
She smiled warmly at the note. Despite his lack of emotion, he could clearly feel how happy the gesture had made her. Isadora placed the note back onto the nightstand, picked up her purse, and quietly left the bedroom, heading to the exit of the building. Isadora's work had to be done, after all. Slacking away wasn't her ideal way of living; it only served to make her lazy.
She walked out of the apartment and down the stairwell before making her way to the train station, since she didn't drive the previous night. As the woman walked, the weather was warm, and her skin began to glisten with clear liquid, indicating it was hotter than usual today.
The gentle breeze that blew through her hair let it fly around freely, cooling her already hot skin. Even without the wind blowing the strands of hair around, the temperature seemed to increase considerably when she stepped foot outside.
The streets were surprisingly empty compared to how busy they usually would be every other day, most likely due to the unusually hot temperatures, and the sky seemed to be covered with grayish clouds, making her wonder just how bad of weather it was supposed to be later during the day.
When she arrived at the train station, the brunette immediately boarded and made her way inside, ignoring the curious looks people sent her direction and the stares she was receiving from passing strangers.
Thankfully, there weren't any other passengers on the train, so she wouldn't need to deal with any uncomfortable questions from the locals.
The train ride went smoothly but out of the corner of her eyes, she could see a couple of mysterious figures checking her out within a few feet away from her. Slightly cautious, Isadora kept her guard up until one of them spoke into a walkie-talkie. She tried to concentrate harder on keeping her ears and eyes open to listen in on their words, but it was rather difficult.
A few minutes later, the mysterious figures approached her, when she suddenly realized; they were the Phantom's men. Their identities were hidden with a black ski mask, which made it obviously suspicious the moment she stepped into the train. Isadora kept her guard up as soon as they approached, her eyes studying every single one of their moves cautiously until one of them carelessly swung their arm in her direction.
The woman instinctively reached out a hand to grab the arm that had swung at her and grabbed it tightly, twisting it behind their back roughly. They let out a pained noise as she did and attempted to pull themselves free from her hold, but to no avail. From the corner of her eyes, the other two men hurried towards her with the intention to attack.
