Rayna's heart swelled with joy as she played with her brothers in the courtyard. Bran and Rickon chased each other around, their laughter echoing off the stone walls. Robb, her older brother, teased her with a playful punch on the arm. "Rayna, you're a Stark through and through!" he said, grinning. As they walked with their father, Eddard Stark, through the forest, they stumbled upon a surprising discovery - six direwolf pups, their eyes blind and helpless, nestled in a basket. "There's one for each of us!" Bran exclaimed. But Jon Snow, who had been walking with them, lingered behind, his eyes fixed on something in the distance. "Wait," he said, his voice low and mysterious. "There's something else."As they followed Jon, they found a seventh pup, its fur as white as snow, its eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intelligence. "This one's different," Jon said, his voice filled with wonder. "It's meant for me."
Later, as Ella helped Rayna prepare for the ball, she worked with careful precision, weaving Rayna's hair into an intricate braid. "You look stunning, my lady," Ella said, curtsying. "The direwolf pup suits you - Shadow is a beautiful name." Rayna smiled, feeling a sense of pride and belonging. In the Great Hall, Cersei's voice dripped with sweetness as she spoke to Sansa. "You'll make a lovely queen one day, Sansa." Catelyn's gentle touch on Rayna's arm pulled her attention away. "Rayna, the queen requests your presence." "Yes, Mother," Rayna replied, her mind racing with caution. Rayna was more than smart enough to recognize the danger in Cersei's eyes and knew better than to back answer the queen, a move that would only lead to trouble. As she approached the queen, Cersei's smile grew wider, but her eyes remained cold. "Ah, Rayna, you look stunning, just like your mother," Cersei said. "You have a certain... spark in your eyes. A spark that could ignite a fire, or be snuffed out like a candle flame."Rayna felt a shiver run down her spine as Cersei's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. She bit back a witty retort, knowing that discretion was the better part of valor. "Thank you Your Grace, you are very kind."Cersei's smile grew wider, but her eyes remained cold. "Yes, you're a true Stark, through and through. And Starks are known for their... loyalty. Aren't they, Rayna?""Yes, Your Grace."And with that, she quickly turned and left the queen's presence, her heart still racing from the veiled threat.
As she hurried away from the queen's presence, Rayna felt a gentle touch on her arm. She turned to see Jaime Lannister, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of amusement and warning. "Well played, little Stark," he said, his voice low and smooth. "You're wise to tread carefully around my sister. She's not one to be trifled with." Rayna's eyes narrowed, unsure of what to make of Jaime's cryptic words. "What do you want, Ser Jaime?" she asked, her voice firm but polite.Jaime's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze piercing. "You look very... appealing, Rayna. Almost... irresistible."Rayna's mind raced as she searched for a way to extricate herself from the uncomfortable situation. She didn't want to be alone with Jaime, didn't want to be trapped by his charisma and cunning. She glanced around, seeking an escape route, her heart pounding in her chest.
"But be warned, little one," Jaime's voice dropped to a whisper, his eyes glinting with a sinister light. "Men always get what they want. And I always get what I desire. You'd do well to remember the fate of your aunt, Lyanna Stark. She was a beauty, just like you. And she suffered the consequences of catching the eye of a man who would stop at nothing to claim her."
Rayna's heart raced as Jaime's words hung in the air, the threat implicit but unmistakable. She felt a shiver run down her spine as his eyes seemed to bore into her soul. "You're playing a dangerous game, Ser Jaime," she said, her voice steady but laced with fear.Jaime's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, but it's a game I always win. And you, little Rayna, are just a pawn."
Just as Jaime's words hung in the air, a cold voice cut through the tension. "I think that's enough, Ser Jaime." Eddard Stark, Rayna's father, stood tall and imposing, his eyes fixed on the Kingslayer. "Leave my daughter alone."Jaime's smile never wavered, but his eyes flickered with annoyance. "Ah, Lord Stark. Always so quick to defend the honor of your family. But this is a matter between Rayna and myself."Eddard's gaze narrowed. "I won't stand for it, Jaime. Rayna, come here." His voice was firm and commanding, and Rayna didn't hesitate, quickly moving to her father's side. As she reached him, he placed a protective hand on her shoulder, his eyes never leaving Jaime's face. "We're leaving. Now."
As they walked away from Jaime's menacing presence, Rayna's voice was barely above a whisper. "Father, will I...will I suffer the same fate as Aunt Lyanna?"Eddard's expression turned grim, his jaw clenched in a mix of anger and worry. "I'll never let that happen, Rayna. I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe."Rayna's eyes searched his face, seeking reassurance. "But Father, you can't be everywhere. What if...what if Jaime--"Eddard's hand on her shoulder tightened. "I'll make sure Jaime Lannister never lays a hand on you. You're my daughter, Rayna, and I'll protect you with my life." His voice was firm, but Rayna could see the hint of fear in his eyes, a fear that mirrored her own.
Rayna burst through the doors, desperate for fresh air and a respite from the suffocating tension. As she walked across the courtyard, she saw a familiar figure leaning against the wall, his eyes fixed on her with concern. Jon Snow."Rayna, what's wrong?" he asked, pushing off the wall and approaching her. "You look like you've seen a ghost."Rayna's eyes welled up with tears as she recounted her encounter with Jaime, her voice shaking. Jon's expression darkened with each passing moment, his jaw clenched in anger. When she finished, Jon's face softened, and he took her hand in his. "Rayna, I promise you, I'll never let anyone harm you. Not while I'm still breathing. You're safe with me, always."Rayna's heart swelled with gratitude and a hint of something more, something she couldn't quite acknowledge yet. "Thank you, Jon," she whispered, her voice barely audible.Jon's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity. "I vow to protect you, Rayna, till my dying breath. You're under my protection now." The words hung in the air like a sacred promise, a bond forged in the fire of their shared moment.
