(Art by me. I know the girl kinda looks like a child, but she is NOT. I just suck at scales. I was trying to make her a bit shorter than the groom and then fucked up.)
_______________________________________(Y/n) felt like he was going to faint again once the memories came rushing back.
His little moment of humor had apparently come to bite him in the ass. How was he to know the hand-like "branch" wasn't actually a branch at all?!
Married to a... a corpse!
"You said your vows so perfectly."
His "husband" smiled softly, skeletal hand held out to show off (Y/n)'s golden ring. The (h/c) felt a wave of revulsion washing over him the longer he stared at the sun bleached bones.
There was... no way he could do this. There had to be a way out!
"I... I..."
A pale-blue eye gazed at him inquisitively.
"Y-You... you see, th... the thing is, I... I didn't..."
An unidentifiable darkness immediately filled the pale corpse's expression, and (Y/n) found his words dying in his throat.
It was probably best if he... didn't admit that all of this was a mistake.
"I-I don't even... know your name..."
The darkness on his face slowly disappeared, replaced by that apathy (Y/n) had been subject to after first waking up.
"I see..."
He paused for but a moment, left hand lifting to brush some of that dark hair over his shoulder.
"My name is Erik."
(Y/n)'s eyes nervously darted to a wall. The intensity in that single pale-blue eye... it was suffocating.
"I'm (Y/n)."
"What a handsome name."
Erik slowly smiled once again, holding his left hand out to help (Y/n) up. The (h/c) took it without so much as a word.
"What do you say we get to know one another, (Y/n)?"
_______________________________________It was morning, but (Y/n) still hadn't returned...
The (h/c)'s parents swore they knew nothing of their son being with someone. He didn't even have any other friends, let alone a lover. So... who had he run off with?
John was so distraught by the news that he decided to hole himself up inside his room and cry his broken heart out.
He could understand (Y/n)'s dissatisfaction with an arranged marriage... hell, he would even be accepting of it!
The matter at hand was much simpler than that.
John wanted to be the one (Y/n) loved, and it seemed like another was occupying the (h/c)'s heart... but what hurt the most is that it was probably John's own fault.
He never expressed his feelings.
He'd probably never see (Y/n) again... not if the (h/c) had escaped with his secret lover.
John burrowed under the covers of his bed, weeping into his pillow as he lamented everything he never said to his childhood friend when he had the chance.
_______________________________________(Y/n) couldn't help appreciating the view overlooking this strange underworld as he shared more about his life with Erik.
After the initial shock wore off, he found himself surprisingly calm (given his current situation).
