Reba felt her heart drop and her throat started to close up. She forced herself to take a deep breath and focus on the her black painted finger nails. She could feel everyone's eyes on her. Everyone knew what happened between Reba and Narvel. Rumors fly fast in their small town high school, so the fact that Reba had cheated on the star soccer player, news spread fast. She used to love being the center of attention, but now she hates it. She hates when everyone looks at her, unless she's on stage. Whenever she's on stage, she gets to forget everything that's wrong in her life.

Reba felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to look at who it was. Narvel offered her a small smile. It wasn't the smile she remembered, the smile that went all the way up to his eyes and put the stars to shame. The last time she saw that 1000 watt smile was when she told him that she still wanted what they had talked about. Now, they don't say two words to each other. They barely even look at the other.

Before Reba could say anything to him, the bell rang. She quickly picked up her notebook and darted out of the classroom, head straight for her house. Once there, she flung herself onto her bed, pulling her favorite pillow close to her. A few minutes passed before she heard a knock on the door.

"Reba? Are you okay?" It was her older sister, Alice. "Can I come in?" She questioned before poking her head in.

"Yeah, come on in," she stated as the redhead forced her way to a sitting position.

"What's going on?" Alice questioned, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Ms. Reynolds assigned a partner project."

"You love partner projects."

"My partner is Narvel," she stated before looking down at her hands. She rarely talked about him, her heart always racing when someone says his name. Reba knows that she's still in love with him, and that's never going to change.

"Oh, sweetie," Alice whispered, wrapping her little sister up in a hug. "How you holding up?" The elder questioned as she pulled away from the hug.

"Not good. I'm still not over him, Alice. I don't think I ever will be. We haven't talked since we broke up and now we have to work together. I don't know if I can do it." Alice reached over, taking a hold of Reba's hand.

"Yes you can. Maybe you guys can try to work things out." Reba gave her sister a small, forced smile before she heard her phone go off. She leaned over to her nightstand, turning the device over.

Narvel- Hey. I guess we're working together now.

Reba- I guess so...

N- Ms. Reynolds wants us to have a conflict by tomorrow.

R- Well, which one do you want to do?

N- Cuban Missile Crisis?

R- Sounds good.

N- See you tomorrow.

R- See ya.

"Who was that?" Alice asked as Reba laid her phone back down.

"Narvel."

"He still has your number?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Surprising." They both heard footsteps and turned to look at the door.

"Okay, who's ass do I have to give a good kick to?" Pake wondered out loud as he found his way into the bedroom.

"Ms. Reynolds paired Reba and Narvel together for a project." Pake shook his head and looked at his little sister.

"RebaNeller, go get that boy."

"I can't."

"The hell you can't!"

"I have Ronnie!"

"Reba, you have to fight for what you want. Is Ronnie what you want?" Alice questioned, looking into her sister's eyes.

"No. I want Narvel."
