Charlie POV

The start of our sixth year at Hogwarts felt different. There was an air of uncertainty hanging over the wizarding world, a tension that hadn't been there before. Despite that, my twin brother Theo and I were eager to return to school to be around our friends.

Theo and I left our home while our father Augustus Nott was out at a "business meeting". Theo was slightly disappointed he wasn't there to see us off, however I couldn't care less. Theo is my father pride and joy. I, however was an inconvenience to my father and he made sure I knew about it. Discreetly of course.

We arrived at Kings Cross station and made our way to Platform 9¾ with our usual group of friends—Draco, Blaise, and Daphne. Seeing the scarlet Hogwarts Express brought a wave of nostalgia and excitement.

Draco Malfoy stood beside his mother, Narcissa, looking every bit the composed and confident young man he is. His icy hair was neatly combed, and his grey eyes scanned the platform with air of curiosity.

Blaise Zabini, tall and exceptionally dressed as always, leaned casually against a pillar, his dark eyes reflecting his usual air of nonchalance. Despite his calm exterior, I knew Blaise was always aware and ready to expect the unexpected.

Daphne Greengrass, my closest female friend, was chatting with her younger sister, Astoria. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with excitement, and her laughter was a welcoming sound at the station.

Theo stood beside me, glancing around him. He was the more reserved one of us, but his protectiveness was unwavering. His intense blue eyes, identical to mine, were always scanning the crowd for any signs of trouble.

As we gathered near the entrance to the train, Draco and Narcissa approached us with a warm smile. "Have a good term, all of you, be safe," she said, her eyes moving to each of us before lingering on Draco. "And remember, stay together."

Draco nodded, a determined look in his eyes. "We will, Mother."

With final hugs and goodbyes, we boarded the train, finding an empty compartment near the back where we wouldn't be disturbed. Blaise and Daphne sat down first, taking the seats by the window.

I sat down next to Draco, grateful for the familiarity of our friends. "I can't believe we're already going in to sixth year," I said, looking out at the platform as it began clear of waiting family members.

Daphne nodded, her smile slightly disappearing. "I know. Things feel some what different this year, don't they?"

Theo took the other seat next to me, with a serious and hard look on his face. "We just need to stay together. Whatever happens, we have each other and that will get us through anything."

"I agree." Draco spoke up facing the window before turning to look at us. We need to be more careful this year. Things are changing every day and not for the better either."

Blaise leaned back in his seat. "Let's not focus on it too much right now. We're back at Hogwarts, and we should make the most of normality while we can."

I felt the train start to move, the familiar sound of the train functioning on the tracks providing a comforting sound. As we settled into the journey, our conversation turned to lighter topics.

As the hours passed, the countryside sped by in a blur of green and gold. I leaned my head against the Theos shoulder, lost in thought. Hogwarts had always been a place of magic and wonder, but this year, it felt like a haven against the growing darkness in the world.

Theo's voice broke into my thoughts. "We'll need to keep an eye on each other, especially you," he said, his gaze serious. "I don't trust everyone at school."

I smiled, and moved by his concern. "I know, Theo. But we're stronger together, don't forget that?"

Draco nodded. "We'll watch out for each other. No one messes with our group."

Blaise smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "And if they do, they'll have to deal with us."

Daphne laughed, the tension easing a bit. "I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that."

As the train continued its journey, we relaxed into the familiar comfort of our friendship. The challenges ahead were daunting, but with Theo, Draco, Blaise, and Daphne by my side, I felt ready to face anything.

Hogwarts was more than just a school; it was a home to me. More than they will ever know. Because of what happens at Nott Manor, they must never find out. Including Theo and I will ensure that, as I will protect them and Hogwarts —no matter what.
