×------------------×-----------------×------×------------Her pov:
It was almost 10 pm and we were still at his house. Even though he has a bas**** personality, his family is just lovely. All of them were so welcoming that for once, I even forgot I was here because he forced me.
"Arree beta, kahan khoi hui ho?" Aunty asked with a warm smile, breaking my trance.
"Nowhere, Aunty...ab bahut time ho gaya hain, merko aur Ruhi ko chalna chahiye," I replied, trying to mask my discomfort.
"Nahi nahi beta, we did not call you here to leave but to stay the night and have fun. Didn't my son tell you?" she insisted, her eyes twinkling with genuine hospitality.
"No," I said through gritted teeth, my eyes angrily glaring into his..
"Beta, why didn't you tell her?" Aunty asked him, clearly puzzled."She was in such a hurry to come here that she didn't even let me open my mouth, ma," he replied smoothly, a smug smile playing on his lips.
That sneaky bas***, he lies so smoothly. My mind raced as I tried to figure out a way to leave, but his family's warmth and their insistence made it difficult. I couldn't exactly tell them their son had coerced me into coming here. The charm he wielded over his family was as undeniable as it was infuriating.
I took a deep breath, forcing a smile. "Aunty, aap sab log itne achhe hain, lekin sach mein, humein nikalna padega."
"Nonsense, beta! You're staying. We've already prepared the guest room for you," Aunty said, patting my hand reassuringly.
His smirk deepened, knowing he had won this round. As much as I hated to admit it, leaving wasn't an option right now. I was stuck here, at his mercy, playing along with his family's unknowing complicity.
Later, as the elders started retreating to their respective rooms, we young folks were left to our own devices. "Di, can we play antakshri?" my sister Ruhi chimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Yesss, let's play antakshri, all the young people only though," Rohan suggested, his enthusiasm infectious.
"Then what are you doing here, bhaiya? You know only YOUNG PEOPLE are allowed, and you're an oldie," his sister Vadehi teased, sticking her tongue out at him.
(Such a true sentence,) my inner voice quipped, unable to resist the jab.
Amrit raised an eyebrow, a sly smile curling his lips. "Then I guess I should take my old companion with me and retire for the night, hmm?" His husky voice rang out, dripping with a dark promise.
"Old companion?" all of the five people—Rohan, Ruhi, Vadehi, Vihaan, and Aditya—said in unison, confusion evident in their voices.
Before I could react, he abruptly picked me up bridal style. My heart raced, and my mind went blank. "WTF..." was the only thing I managed to utter as I heard all the youngsters hooting and clapping, their cheers echoing in the background.
"Let me down," I demanded, struggling against his firm grip. His dark eyes locked onto mine, and he ignored my plea, his hold unyielding.
"Get comfortable," he commanded, his tone brooking no argument.
"Do you really think I'll always be obedient to your command, Mr. Agnivanshi? I only listened to you before because of my sister, so don't get any other thoughts that I'll behave like an obedient 'fiancé' for you," I said, giving him a sly, challenging smile.
His eyes darkened further, a dangerous glint flickering in their depths. He carried me through the corridor until we reached the guest room. With deliberate slowness, he set me down, his hands lingering on my waist, his proximity sending shivers down my spine.
Leaning in close, his breath hot against my ear, he whispered, "We'll see about that."
He straightened, a wicked smirk playing on his lips as he stepped back, leaving me standing there, heart pounding, mind reeling from the intensity of his gaze.
As I closed the door with a thud, anger surged through my veins, longing to wipe that smirk off his face. "'We'll see about that,'" I mimicked his voice, frustration boiling within me. "Huh, what does he even think of himself? Just because I agreed to marry him, he thinks he's in control. Well, Mr. Agnivanshi, till now I was letting you off the hook, but now you'll see the true Vaishnavi. And I will make you regret even proposing this marriage between us."
I ranted on, imagining various ways to exact my revenge, when suddenly I remembered I had to talk to Rooh about our parents' death. Dialing her number, I was greeted by Vadehi's voice. "Didi, Rooh is playing right now. Is it something important? I can go tell her if you want."
I could hear faint singing in the background. "No, no, Vadehi, let Rooh play. It's nothing important."
"OKkkie dokkie, sooooo, are you decent?" Vadehi teased.
"What do you mean, Vadehi?" I replied, my tone sharp.
"I mean you took off with my brother while being in his arms. Sooo I assumed you wer—"
"Don't you dare complete that sentence. I am in my room alone. And I am very much decent," I interrupted, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment.
"Hehe, OK bye. They are calling me for my turn," Vadehi chirped.
"Hmm," I murmured before ending the call, noticing my ears were red. Why? Perhaps it was the combination of frustration, and anger.
(Yeah, it is bcoz of anger and nothing else) I told myself..
