AS THE CLOCK ticked each second and each minute, the students in the hall leaned forward eagerly, almost at the edge of their seats, waiting for the transfer student to finally be sorted into their designated house. Some students started groaning and sighing at the long holdup because many students were famished and just wanted to start feasting after nine long hours on the Hogwarts Express.

Alexander didn't mind where he'd get sorted into. Although, he'd like to be in Gryffindor since he's already made friends with the four girls there. He wouldn't mind Hufflepuff either. It was the house he was sorted into by the Pottermore quiz in his world. It was more familiar to him. And all in all, he doesn't feel like he'd suit Slytherin or Ravenclaw — he never has or will see himself as a Gryffindor either. Just Hufflepuff.

"Ah!" The hat made a sound of realization. "I know just where to put you. BETTER BE GRYFFINDOR!" He yelled out.

The great hall remained silent. It wasn't because of the unexpected sorting, but because the hat took longer than five minutes to decide where to put him. Five minutes and ten seconds to be exact. It was the first hatstall in almost 57 years. After careful consideration, the hat had based his final decision mainly on Alex's preference of wanting to be in Gryffindor so he could join his friends.

The Gryffindor table started clapping enthusiastically, welcoming the transfer student while Lily, Marlene, Alice, and Mary beckoned him over to their spot, excitedly. He walked over and claimed his spot between Lily and Alice again. "That was nerve-wracking," he said, wiping his sweaty palms on his pants.

"Yeah, who knew you'd be a hatstall? That hasn't happened in forever," Lily commented, intrigued by it. "Doesn't that mean he fits in all houses?" Alice asked. Alexander shrugged and Lily decided to answer the question, excitedly. "I don't think all, but probably two or three houses. Isn't that so interesting?"
