8 days later...
The day of the concert arrives and I couldn't have cared less. Emma is ecstatic, though, and insists that we show up to the venue early to get good spots. She makes us wake up at 7:00 in the morning and we arrive there at 8:00, armed with a backpack of food, a long blanket, and portable chargers for our phones. About twenty other die-hard fans are already there, but Emma assures me that we'll still have good spots. I've brought enough reading material for me, so at least I'll have time to catch up on my books. This will be a long day.
************
After spending 10 grueling hours waiting, the doors are finally opened. We scan our tickets through the entrance and run through the lobby area. Other fans are racing through the doors in order to get close seats, and me and Emma elbow our way through.
With a combination of luck and elbow-shoving, we are able to secure spots at the front row. Emma is somehow more excited now than she was outside.
"Oh my god, oh my god, he'll be able to look at us Julia!" She yells. I shrug and say, "This place is pretty big, I don't think he'll be able to spot us."
"But we're in the front row! There's no way he won't be able to spot us."
"I don't know what the fuss is about over this Brandon Flowers guy!" I finally admit, a little too loudly as some nearby people turn to look at me.
"Julia..." Emma says, a look of serious concern comes on her face as if I said something blasphemous.
"Wait till you see him."
I roll my eyes and stare at the stage. I can't wait for this concert to be over. If this band is so amazing why didn't I like them in the first place?
"C'mon..." Emma says, trying to lighten up the mood. "This is going to be so awesome!" I merely nod my head and continue staring at the stage.
The lights dim and everyone goes wild. Emma is jumping up and down yelling and raising her hands in the air. Four very tall people come out of the side stage and make their way to their spots.
The first guy is tall, the tallest out of all of them. He is dirty blond and looks somewhat shy. He makes his way to the other end of the stage. The next guy has a beard with black hair. He's cute with nice eyes. He walks to the drum set, and I assume he's the drummer. The next guy looks like he got a bad perm job. He has long straight hair that sticks out of his head. He stops near his end with a serious face and grabs his guitar.
I see the next guy walk out and my jaw drops.
He's wearing all black. His hair is a high and tight comb-over that nicely complements his face. His face is chiseled, with high cheek bones and big, brown eyes. His lips are pursed and his mouth is slightly parted, revealing his tongue. I get an urge to want to kiss him but continue staring. He's wearing a leather jacket, with a blue and white shirt underneath. For pants he's wearing tight black slacks, and to top it off are a pair of black high heel boots. And his body is lean and muscled.
He's the most beautiful man I've ever seen. I can't help but stare at his shining, gorgeous face. I finally turn and see Emma and others doing the same thing. I realize that he probably gets this from everyone he meets and that kills me.
I hear the song begin. His keyboard is right in front of me, and he looks focused yet relaxed as he presses the keys. He bobs his head and starts singing "Oh oh ohh..." as I continue staring at him. The beat of the song is good, so I start moving to the music.
The song is about some flying spaceman or something, but I don't really care. I just watch him as he struts about the stage, commanding everyone's attention with his voice. He points and raises his eyebrows during parts of the song, and sometimes he'll do some choreographed move, like tugging on his shirt. At that point he gets everyone wild, including me. I scream and shout, because I have no other way to release this pent up energy inside me.
