New York, the day of the attack

The sudden, deafening gunshot caused chaos and panic at the airport. Passengers streamed out of the building in a blind rush, driven only by the desperate need to escape. However, one figure moved against the tide.

Jake wasn't one to be easily frightened. He didn't tend to panic, even in the face of crisis. But today, everything had spun out of control. Today, he should have been expecting that something would go wrong. After all, he had known from the start that their flight was at risk. With his jaw clenched tightly and his heart pounding in his chest as if it were about to burst, he pushed through the terrified civilians. His mission was clear: neutralize the threat and ensure the safety of everyone present. However, one person dominated his thoughts above all else - Carmina.

Just one shot. Something clearly wasn't right. He was correct. His intuition, as always, didn't fail him. As soon as he directed his steps toward the source of the shot, another boom reverberated through the arrivals hall. Jake rolled across the floor and took cover behind one of the souvenir stands. Hurriedly, he called for backup while attempting to locate the assailant himself. He cursed when he realized there were four of them. There was no point in shooting now; they would kill him before he could take them all out.

"Fuck. Where are you, Carmina?" More shots rang out. The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder. Peeking out slightly, he scanned the surroundings.

And at that moment, in the middle of chaos, his eyes fell upon her. Carmina's lifeless body lay on the cold airport floor. Rage surged through him drowning out all reason. With a roar, he emptied his entire magazine at the assailants. Memories of his last conversation with Carmina echoed in his mind. She was telling him how much she cherished her life and she mentioned plans they made with Dae together. Now all is lost. He remembered telling her that no one would die for love. He cursed himself, regretting every single word. He didn't mean that. With despair, he reloaded the magazine and pressed forward.

Gunfire flew towards the assailants from the opposite direction. The support he had called for arrived quicker than expected. Taking advantage of the moment, he crawled over to Carmina's side. Tenderly, he turned her delicate face towards him. Time seemed to pause as he noticed the gunshot wound on her head, his mind was entirely consumed by sorrow.

"Carmina," he whispered, his voice choking with emotion. "I'm so sorry."

Jake's fury raged like a wildfire; he surged forward with a primal roar.

"Move, move, move!" his voice sliced through the chaos as he vaulted over fallen luggage and darted past panicked passengers.

"Jake, on your six!" a voice crackled over the earpiece. With lightning reflexes, he ducked as a barrage of bullets whistled past him. "Fuck! That was close!"

"Cover me!" He leaped over a baggage carousel, landing with a roll as bullets sprayed into the air around him.

"Incoming!" The agent's warning came just in time. Jake returned fire. "Die, you son of a-" but his words dissolved into a primal scream as he unleashed a barrage of bullets.
