Life in the small coastal town began to take on a sense of normalcy. With Blake's father no longer a threat, the constant tension and fear that had shadowed us began to lift. The days felt lighter, filled with the simple joys of our new lives. But there was one issue that still bothered me, gnawing at the back of my mind.

One evening, as we sat on the porch watching the sunset over the ocean, I turned to Blake—Alex—and took a deep breath. "We need to talk."He looked at me, concern flashing in his eyes. "What's wrong, Emma?"I hesitated, the fake name feeling heavy on my tongue. "That's just it. I don't want us to call each other by our fake names when we're alone. It doesn't feel right. I'm Sloane, and you're Blake. That's who we are."

Blake—Alex—looked taken aback for a moment, then nodded slowly. "I understand. It's been strange for me too, using a different name all the time."I reached out, taking his hand in mine. "We created these new identities to protect ourselves, but when it's just us, I want to be who we are. I don't want to lose ourselves in all of this."A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, and he squeezed my hand. "You're right, Sloane. We shouldn't forget who we are. From now on, when it's just us, we'll be Blake and Sloane."Relief washed over me, and I leaned into him, resting my head on his shoulder. "Thank you, Blake. I needed to hear that."

We sat in comfortable silence, the sound of the waves a soothing backdrop. It felt like a turning point, a small but significant step toward reclaiming our true selves. In the following days, we continued to build our new life, but with a renewed sense of authenticity. We made friends in the community, participated in local events, and slowly began to feel like we truly belonged. Our past was still a part of us, but it no longer defined us.One afternoon, as we walked along the beach, Blake turned to me, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You know, I've been thinking about what we want for our future. Now that we have a chance to live our lives, I want to make the most of it."

I smiled, feeling a swell of affection for him. "What do you have in mind?"He stopped and faced me, taking both of my hands in his. "I want to travel, to see the world with you. We talked about it once, back at the cabin. I want us to explore new places, create new memories, and live life to the fullest."
My heart soared at his words. "I'd love that, Blake. There's so much out there to see and experience. And as long as we're together, I know we can handle anything."We spent the next few months planning our travels, mapping out destinations and dreaming about the adventures that awaited us. It felt liberating to look forward, to envision a future filled with possibilities rather than fear.

Our first trip was to a small island in the Mediterranean, a place known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture. As we explored the narrow streets and savoured the local cuisine, I felt a sense of wonder and excitement that I hadn't felt in years. One evening, as we sat on a cliff overlooking the ocean, Blake turned to me, his eyes filled with love. "Sloane, I've been thinking... I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"

Tears of joy filled my eyes as I nodded, unable to speak. He pulled out a simple, elegant ring and slipped it onto my finger. "Yes, Blake. I'll marry you."As we embraced, the sun setting behind us, I knew that we had finally found our place in the world. We had faced incredible challenges and come out stronger, and now we were ready to build a future together.

Our journey was far from over, but with each other by our side, I knew we could face whatever came our way. We were no longer defined by our pasts, but by the love and strength we had found in each other. And that was enough to carry us through the rest of our lives.

The end.
