When I finally woke up, I was in Beleth's arms as he began placing me on my bed and removing my shoes. "Don't even think about having sex with me." I told him sleepily. Beleth chuckled as he placed my throw blanket over me before sitting beside me,

"I wasn't." He said, moving strands of my hair out of my face. "You need to rest, you drank more than you probably should have." I weakly kicked him making him chuckle,

"I want answers." I said, still wanting to know what he meant. I felt him get up from the bed and his hot breath tickled my ear and through hooded eyes, I watched as he leaned in and kissed the top of my head.

"Get some rest, I'll see you soon, darling." I closed my eyes the moment I felt his presence leave my room. The weight of sleep taking over me once more.

"Morana?" I heard my dad say as he shook me awake.

"What's happening?" I ask, as I'm being dragged out of bed by my father.

"You need to get dressed. Now." He tells me, bringing out my long black dress that honestly makes me look like Mortisha Addams.

"Why?" I asked him, hoping to get some answers.

"Because," he says, "you've been matched."

Matched?! What the hell? Why now? I don't know what's happening, but I got up and got ready like my father said.

Once I was ready, me and dad left the apartment to head to the secret location of all Reapers.

Arriving at the meeting place, I was brought into a secret chamber; dad kissed my cheek before joining the others. I've never been to a Matching Ceremony; I'm not sure what's going to happen.

A door opened and a stream of lights glistened the floor; not knowing what to do, I followed the trail. I kept trying to keep my mind from spiraling. When I reached the end of the trail of lights, I stepped into the center of a bright light.

I didn't know who they could have chosen for me, but then... "Hello, again, my dear." I froze in place but jerked my head up to meet his gaze.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, trying not to snap.

"Well," Beleth began, but was quickly cut off,

"Welcome, Moranna Collins and Beleth." I hear one of the elders announce, "This is our match ceremony. It's the Reapers version of a wedding."

"This has to be some kind of mistake." I groaned. Beleth chuckled to himself, but stayed quiet.

"You cannot refuse the union." The elder told us, "Due to Miss Collins being half mortal, she must be matched with a full blooded demon."

"What?" I asked, turning my attention to Beleth, "What does that mean?"

"The reason Reapers are matched to other Reapers, is because they are descendants of the demon species, as well as some angels as well." Beleth tells me,

Realization hits, "And since my mother is human and not a Reaper,"

"You are being matched to me so our child will be the next Reaper of Alador City." I bite my lip hard, this time, not out of lust, but out of frustration and anger.

"Congratulations to the new couple." Beleth took my hand and placed a ring on my finger and I had no choice but to place a ring on his.

This is happening. And there's nothing I can do to stop it.
