As I marched up the stairs to the magnificent house of Victoria and Victor. They were two of the oldest members of the city; besides the Leviathan brothers. Being the reaper of the city, you get to learn of the ones who aren't going to be dying without a reason.
Victoria and Victor's reason is that they are vampires.
I was led to a grand sitting room where Victoria sat on a couch that looked like it was from the Victorian era. She turned and smiled at me, "Well, isn't this just a surprise!" She sat her teacup down and walked over to me, taking me into her embrace.
"Nice to see you too, Victoria." I told her.
"Please, come in and have a seat." Victoria says, "Would you like some tea?" I shrugged,
"Sure, sounds nice."
"Andrews." Victoria called out to the butler, who promptly came into view. "Fetch some tea, would you." He nods and walks away.
Once we're alone, I look to her, "Victoria," I say, "I need a favor." She raises a brow.
"I'm not sure what I can do for the Grim Reaper of Alador City, but please, do ask." Victoria tells me, taking her teacup into her hand and taking a sip.
Andrews returned with a teapot and a new teacup and poured me some tea. "Would you like cream and sugar?" He asked; I shook my head and took the cup, turning my attention back to Victoria.
"I have...a demon who is tormenting me." I say, peaking her curiosity. "He's marked me." I moved my t-shirt enough for her to see.
"Do you know the name of this creature?" She asks. I take a sip of my tea before uttering his name,
"Beleth." The moment his name left my lips, Victoria's teacup shattered and what had been in her cup was now all over the previously pristine couch.
"Give me your hand." She commands. I did so; one thing about Victoria, before she became the Queen of the Vampires, she was a witch.
I didn't know what she was doing. If she was reading my palm or what; but when she finally met my gaze once more, she dropped my hand from hers.
"What?" I ask, "What did you see?" But she shook her head,
"This is beyond me, my dear." She says, "I'm sorry." I shook my head, damn it.
"I guess I only have one other option." I say, "Go to the Elders."
"Do you think there is a deeper reason as to why he is after you?" Victoria asks, but I shake my head,
"I truly have no idea." Victoria's frown so turns to a mischievous grin,
"Could it be that he is infatuated with your beauty?" I scoffed at the thought,
"As if." I tell her, but she persists,
"Darling," she says sweetly, "you have gorgeous caramel skin, dark chocolate brown hair, and a gaze that could kill a man where he stands. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the reason he wants you."
"He did call me a badass." I snicker, "And I might have put him in his place when he appeared in my bedroom one night while I was changing."
"Oh," Victoria giggled, "any steamy details to share?" She asks, but I shake my head.
"I don't even know what he actually looks like." I tell her, "He appears in a human form, the same one he was in when he first approached me. Today was the first time I saw his tail and his true skintone." She hums,
"Interesting." Victoria says, clearly pondering. "And your father doesn't know anything?" I shake my head,
"I can't tell him. He worries about me enough." She nods her understanding, as if she lived with a parent like my father.
"Well," She says, after a moment of silence, "I suppose you need to go to the elders and get some real answers. Perhaps, even Beleth can inform you."
I groaned at the thought. The last thing I want is to have to ask him for a damn thing; the thought of even seeing him both makes me sick to my stomach and makes my panties wetter than the ocean itself.
And Victoria knew it.
"Go." She tells me, "You need those answers, and let me know how that goes." I smiled and gave her a hug,
"Thank you for at least trying to give me some answers."
"Good luck." Victoria tells me before we stand, and Andrews walks me to the door of the grand house and I left.
I'm just hoping the elders give me the answers I need.
After helping, I don't know how many souls, I decided to head to one of the local bars. It has been a long day. Between everything with Beleth and then my meeting with Victoria, I was stressed.
Maybe if I had sex then I wouldn't feel like this.
I started glancing around to see if there was someone that I would consider taking home or going home with for the night. So far, nothing.
"Are you here alone?" An oh so familiar voice said to me.
"Esta hija de puta." I muttered under my breath, "What the hell are you doing here?" I asked Beleth as he came into view, sitting beside me at the bar and ordering a couple drinks before finally answering me,
"I thought I'd get a drink and I wanted to see if you got the information you needed." The second a drink landed in front of me, I downed it without taking a breath. "I'll take that as a no."
"Yeah, well, my father doesn't know and I don't want to tell him about you. I tried going to Victoria, but she couldn't tell me anything, so my next option is to ask the elders."
"Or you could ask me." He tells me, as if it were common sense. Another drink was placed in front of me and in almost the same instant, it was gone. "Or just drink until you pass out." I chuckled a bit,
"I think I'll go with option B." Beleth orders another round before leaning over to me and whispering with a breathy growl,
"I can smell your arousal, my dear." I rolled my eyes,
"Down you pig." I tell him, "Or you might see exactly what I'm capable of." With a smirk, Beleth nibbled my ear,
"Is that a promise?" I shook my head,
"You're an asshole, you know that?" I tell him with a snarl, but the look he gives is one that makes me want to fall to my knees in front of him.
"You know," he says, "I could help you with your little...situation, if you'd like." I scoffed,
"Fuck off, Beleth." I told him, standing up and getting ready to head out the door, stumbling when I got to my feet, but Beleth's strong arms caught me and held me up. "Don't touch me!" I yell. I could see a glare of anger erupt behind his eyes.
"No." He told me, "I'm taking you home because you're drunk, and I don't trust these assholes around here to let you walk home by yourself."
"Can you just not be the fucking hero in the books?" I ask, "It doesn't suit you." He growled and then threw me over his shoulder. "Put me down!" I commanded as I pounded at his back, but he didn't listen to me.
I finally gave up when he slipped me into a cab and gave the driver my address and then slipped into the car with me.
As we drove through the city, I felt peace wash over me and as the engine purred, lulling me into slumber.
