A/N: Hey guys. Long time no see, huh? Well I guess it has something to do with the fact that I haven't had many original ideas. That's actually going to change really soon. First, I'm gonna give you guys this short story I wrote for my English class.

So you guys might want an explanation. In my English class, we were given an option of pictures out of a book called The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. These pictures were originally supposed to have "amazing" stories to go along with them, but the author disappeared before they were ever revealed. Therefore, his pictures were put into a book that others could write short stories about.

I chose the picture titled Mr. Linden's Library and included the quotation, "He had warned her. Now it was too late." Look for the description and quotation within the story ;) I hope you guys enjoy!

Riley sighed as she unpacked the last of her boxes. She didn't want to move to this town. It was small and boring. Literally, the name of the town was Boring. It probably had something to do with the fact that there was nothing there except for farms and a few small stores.

At least I have internet connection, she reassured herself.

As she tossed aside another box, her mother walked into the room.

"Riley, are you still upset about the move?" she asked while sitting down on Riley's bed.

"No, I'm ecstatic to be living in a town that has a population smaller than my IQ," Riley replied sarcastically.

"That wasn't necessary. We moved here to get us out of the hustle and bustle of the city. It will be nice to be out in the country where it's peaceful and quiet for a change."

"But, Mom, you took me away from everything good. Like my book club. That's the best thing that has happened to me all year and you basically took it away."

At her old school, Riley and her friends had started a book club. They decided that each year would have a certain genre of books as a theme. This year's was fantasy. It was one of the best group projects she had ever been a part of.

"Well you can still read your fantasy books like you planned to. Just not with the rest of your friends. There's a library further into town. You could walk there later," Riley's mom said with a smile.

Riley rolled her eyes, "Fine but the Boring Library better be more exciting than it sounds."

Ten minutes later, Riley found herself walking to the library. Once she finally got there, Riley was glad to see that the sign did not read "Boring Library," but instead it read "Mr. Linden's Library."

This intrigued her, so she walked in. It was a very weird place. The lighting was dark and the bookshelves were all worn down and misshapen, and the books looked very old and fragile.

"Hello?" she called when she realized that there was not one other person there.

"Why hello," said a mysterious voice from behind her. She shrieked then turned around to see a small, old man standing with a few books in his arms.

"You scared me," Riley said with a nervous laugh.

"I apologize," the old man said with a small chuckle. "I'm Mr. Linden. I own and run this library."
