Soak Up The Sun

It was during our third day in the beautiful city of Florence when I realized I had committed my sixth mistake.

During our first day, Jin insisted on going to San Lorenzo Market. He bought new clothes and items for the both of us, choosing them meticulously but not caring about the price. It was when I guessed the man was a big shot. He had paid everything using his black AMEX card, and when we checked in at a five star hotel, he used a JP Morgan Reserve card, which immediately earned us the presidential suites and exclusive hotel perks.

'Jin' wasn't just an ordinary person.

I tried to rake in every name of the chaebols I knew in South Korea and Asia, but his name didn't ring a bell. Of course, I wasn't stupid enough to think he had given me an alias instead of his real name. I only even gave him my birth name. It was a standard security protocol for people with a high status quo.

In the afternoon, after our earlier shenanigans in the market, I was already famished. Jin suggested we go to this steakhouse he loved because, according to him, they served the best Florentine steak. We could also sign up for a wine tasting, which was right up my alley.

That first night, I found out Jin liked his steak rare, and that he liked sweet red wines more than the dry ones --- he finished a bottle of Lambrusco and half a bottle of Brachetto d'Acqui all by himself --- and had a fair alcohol tolerance.

He was much chattier when he was drunk, too.

And clingier.

And bolder.

"How old are you?" asked Jin after consuming his seventh glass of wine.

"26. You?"

"29. Ha! I'm older than you. I'm your hyung," he giggled, cheeks flushing a pretty tinge of red, before he habitually bit his lower lip. He playfully teased me, tipsy, "But you can be my hyung, Tae hyung."

I had to shift in my seat as the discomfort between my thighs bothered me. "That sounded so wrong."

But Jin just laughed it off, the golden rays of the setting sun bathing him with a glorious glow. "Are you married? Or do you have anyone waiting for you at home?"

I paused. Those were such simple questions, and yet I had trouble answering. I wanted to lie about my relationship status, so the magical spell and the invisible force between us wouldn't disappear. But thankfully, one of the waiters saved me by the bell and served us complimentary desserts.
