I decide to walk to school since there's no point in going 'home' anyway.

"Emma", I hear someone yell in the distance. Here we go again....

"There you are! Me and my dad were waiting for you at your house. Where did you go?", says Maddie as she struggles to catch her breath.

"Oh uh.... I decided to walk to school today", I mutter trying to end the conversation as soon as possible.

"But we always go to school together?", Maddie responds obviously not getting the hint.

"Well maybe we should change that", I say as I walk away

"Wait, Emma! Slow down!", I don't. "Emma, wait!", Maybe she'll stop if I keep ignoring her. "Emma!".... "EMMA!"

"OH MY GOD WHAT?!", I scream, finally giving in to her incessant yelling. She stops in her tracks. I guess she wasn't expecting me to snap at her like that.

"Oh uh... I just wanted to know if you were feeling better?"

"Feeling better? What are you talking about?"

"You didn't come to school because you were sick. You've never missed school before so I assumed it was pretty serious."

"So that's how they're gonna fix yesterday's episode huh?"

"episode? what are you-"

"Anyways if you don't have anything else to tell me I'll be heading to class now."

"W-wait"

"Great. What is it this time?", I sigh.

"Do you want to come with me to the library after school? I need to pick up some books for Mr. Roger's history project."

"Does he just teach every class?"

"But he only teaches one-"

"Yeah, whatever, I already know what you're gonna say."

"Oh....ok? So do you want to come?"

"It's not like I have much of a choice since 'we do everything together'", I say in a mocking tone.

"Ok great!", Maddie says elatedly. "Let's go!"

"Let's go? Like right now? What about school?"

"But school is-"

"Over? Yeah, I think I'm getting used to how this works now. Just ignore what I said.", and just like that I'm out of there as quickly as I came in. It's annoying how I'm basically forced to go along with whatever she wants but I guess this 'world' practically revolves around her so I don't really know what I expected.

"Wait a minute. Where exactly is the library?", I question her. The last time I checked there was only one road that connected the school and the copy-and-paste houses so how are we supposed to get there

"It's just a 10-minute walk in that direction.", she points to her left and all of a sudden there's a new road that was never there before. As we walk towards the library I'm hit with a sense of déjà vu as instead of copy and pasted houses the road is filled with duplicate buildings that all look the same in shape, size, and color and they all seem to be closed. The only one that's different is a tall brown building labeled library. I'd point out how weird this is but knowing her she'll probably just go 'What do you mean' and give me a bullshit excuse about how this is all actually normal when it very clearly isn't. Nevertheless, we head inside the library but things just get even more strange.

"What are you reading Emma?", Maddie questions hovering over me as I open a book I picked off the shelf.

"It's empty"
