"'The Cullens don't come here'?" Jude asked to make sure she had heard Bella correctly.

The other girl nodded, "Jacob looked so uncomfortable when he said it too! Then he started to tell me about the Quileute legends... that the tribe is supposedly descended from wolves."

Bella noticed Jude wince, but continued.

"He told me about an enemy clan. Or, that the Cullens were the enemy clan and that they'd signed a treaty that said they wouldn't set foot on the tribe's land otherwise they'd tell the humans what they really were. I asked him how it could be the Cullens - you know, they've only just moved here," Bella shrugged, "but Jacob said maybe they'd only just moved back."

Jude's brows furrowed.

"Moved back? Those Quiluete legends are ancient - how would that even be possible?"

Things weren't adding up, and Jude didn't like it. But as the scars on her thigh itched uncomfortably, she realised that this legend was real.

She looked at Bella, scanning her face for more answers, "what are they really?"

Bella shook her head in response, "Jacob didn't say, but I think I know how we can find out."

The two girls smiled at each other conspiratorially.

"Tell me."

"What about this one?" Jess asked, spinning in a circle, readjusting her 'assets' so to speak.

Bella nodded into her book, not lifting her head, "I like that one."

Jude agreed, actually looking at Jess as she gave her opinion: "I like this one best. You suit the colour."

Jess nodded, gesturing her head towards Bella as she rolled her eyes in disgust as a group of men who catcalled through the glass window. Jude laughed slightly before mouthing to Jess - "not her kind of thing."

"Are you okay Bella?" Angela asked politely, catching onto the silent conversation between the two other girls. Bella looked up, distracted, before realising what Angela had asked. She raised her eyebrows and shook herself out of her reverie.

"Yeah... um, I just- there's this book store that I wanted to visit and... yeah. I'll meet you guys later? At the restaurant?" Bella stuttered her way through her sentence. Jude furrowed her eyebrows. She had been confused as to why Bella had agreed to come dress shopping with Jess and Angela. She had stuck by her story of being out of town and so Jude had continued to go along with it. She didn't particularly want to go to the dance anyway.

"Want me to come with?" Jude asked, looking sheepishly over her shoulder at Bella, who shook her head.

"Don't worry," Bella smiled, pushing her book into her bag, "I won't be long." She shot Jude that look again, the one that told her that she's fill her in later. Jude smiled understandingly and let Bella leave.

"Jude!" Jess gasped, eyes scanning a dress in front of her that she had pulled off the rack. "You have to try this on!" she squealed showing Jude the gown.

It was beautiful. Jude couldn't deny it. Its deep green shade matched her eyes perfectly and was sure to bring out the freckles that dotted her pale skin. Her jaw dropped slightly as she moved closer to Jess to feel the silk.

Jude had never been one to be awestruck by something as insignificant as a dress but she really couldn't help herself - it was truly beautiful.

"Oh Jude," Angela approached the other girls, "you have to."

Jude was definitely easily convinced. She entered the dressing room, removing her jeans and jumper and pulling on the elegant dress. It fit her perfectly, clinging to all of the right places and accentuating her beautiful features. She gasped as she turned to look in the mirror.
