"Gyuvin Oppa, you're here again!" Seyeon stood up excitedly from her seat and ran to the door to Gyuvin.
"Hey, Seyeonnie." Gyuvin gently stroked Seyeon's silky hair.
It was the third time Gyuvin visited the orphanage in the course of a week. He naturally became closer with the kids; the punishment last time definitely helped.
Siwon glanced at him before going back to what she was doing. It was study time at the orphanage, so all the kids were gathered at the library to work.
"You're teaching the kids how to do their homework?" Gyuvin went up to Siwon and stood behind her to see what she was doing. "Are you sure you're teaching them right?"
"Our Siwon Noona is very smart." Jeongwon said defensively. "Why are you here again?"
"Smart? I wouldn't exactly associate that word with her."
"I don't think I need a PhD to know primary school stuff, right?" Siwon snapped. "But since you're here, you might as well help them with their homework, Mr. Top of the School."
"You're top of the school, Hyung?" Noeul was astounded by the newly learned fact.
"For now, yes."
"Siwon Unnie, how about you then? Are you in second place then?" Gyeoul asked innocently.
"Pfft!" Gyuvin snickered at how Siwon had set herself a trap. "Yeah, she's definitely in second place; second to last." He whispered the last few words in Siwon's ear, but she seemed completely unbothered; it wasn't like he was wrong.
"Are you here to help the kids or not?"
"Raise your hand if you need help!" Gyuvin stopped bickering with Siwon at once and went around to check the children's homework.
Once study time was over, the kids dashed out of the library to spend their free time however they wanted.
"I think we also have some homework to do." Gyuvin fluttered his eyelashes at Siwon, who was sitting right across him, while resting his chin on his hands.
Siwon looked at Gyuvin, disgusted at how he was trying to act cute. "Don't tell me you're actually expecting me to work."
"I am."
"I'm doing this for your own good. You'd be much better off doing the whole project on your own. I have nothing to lose, but if you don't get a good grade, that's going to be a problem."
"That's for me to worry about. You just have to do your part."
"What's the point?"
"Shouldn't you be setting a good example for the kids? Imagine if they learn that their beloved Siwon Noona is a free rider."
"You really do enjoy threatening me, do you?" She smiled sarcastically. "Don't forget, I still have photos from your hide-and-seek punishment. Those photos should really be shared with people in school."
"Go ahead. I wonder who'd suffer more loss if I told everyone about the bookshop and the orphanage."
"Exactly how long do you plan to use that against me? You go ahead, too. I'm done playing games with you." Siwon glared at Gyuvin disdainfully and stood up from her seat.
"Ya, let's make a deal!" Gyuvin called out out of panic as Siwon was walking away. "We'll work on this together, and if we at least get an A, I'll keep my mouth shut forever; I won't use your secrets against you anymore."
"You're not going to work less hard to make us fail, right?" Siwon stopped in her tracks.
"Do I look like someone who'd play with my grades?"
"Upon one condition, you'll present in front of the class by yourself."
"Fine."
Siwon paused and thought for a while. "Deal." She then continued making her way out of the library.
"Shouldn't we start working now?"
"Well, I'll need my laptop to work, won't I?" She forced a grin while gritting her teeth.
Gyuvin swiftly formulated a structure plan for the presentation and assigned parts to Siwon. To his surprise, Siwon got straight down to work without any problems.
By the time he visited the orphanage the next time, Siwon had roughly done all the research and even started making the PowerPoint slides. It wasn't just the efficiency; the quality of her work definitely did not look like it was from someone who was second to last in school.
"Why?" Siwon glanced at Gyuvin's slightly furrowed brows before looking at her laptop again. "Are there parts you're not happy with? Just change it. Don't have to ask."
"You did all this?"
"No, I used ChatGPT." Siwon deadpanned.
"Wow, AI sure is scary." Gyuvin gasped. "I didn't know ChatGPT could write so well. Did you at least change the wording, though?"
"If that's your concern, don't worry. We won't be caught for plagiarism."
Gyuvin immediately tried generating a similar paragraph using ChatGPT. "Ya, this is nothing compared to yours. Did you use another AI tool?"
Siwon almost rolled her eyes, wondering how on earth he even came first in school.
"Why are you interested? Don't tell me the first in school also relies on ChatGPT for their homework."
"If AI is producing work of this quality, it might be a good idea to, you know, make a reference or two?" He made a cheeky expression.
"Given your ability, I don't think you'll need help from AI."
"Woah, is that a compliment from you?" Gyuvin couldn't believe his ears.
Siwon kept her eyes on her screen without responding.
"Can I ask you a question?" Gyuvin rested his cheek on his hand and moved across the table, closer to Siwon.
"No."
"I don't understand. Why are you hiding all this from your family?"
"I don't understand either. Why are you so nosy about other people's business?"
