TWO WEEKS LATER

It's been two weeks since the call with Ice Man. During those two weeks I have been able to sell my apartment and get everything in order before leaving to Top Gun. In these two weeks not once has anyone from my so called "Fire Fam." talked to me.

I have everything i need to resign ready so all I had to do was bring it to the fire house. Right now i am in the parking lot working myself up to go in. I could have just giving my resignation to the chief but i know i had to do this for myself.

I stood in the doorway of Firehouse 118, the resignation forms clutched tightly in my hand. The familiar scent of smoke and sweat filled the air, mingling with the distant hum of the city. I had never imagined this day would come. My team, my family, had betrayed me, and now I had no choice but to leave.

Taking a deep breath I walked inside ready for all of the side eyes from the crew.  As I stepped inside, my eyes scanned the room. My teammates were gathered around the kitchen table, sharing a meal and laughing. The camaraderie that had once been my anchor now felt like a knife twisting in my gut.

I clear my throat making everyone snap there heads towards me.  "Evan what are you doing here" Bobby says in a stern voice.

"I need to talk to all of you," Buck interrupted, his voice firm but tinged with sadness.

The room grew tense. Captain Bobby Nash looked up,  "What do you want?"

Evan took a moment, looking at each of them in turn—Hen, Eddie, Chimney, and finally Bobby. He placed the resignation forms on the table, the paper trembling slightly in his hand.

"I'm resigning," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside.

Shock and confusion spread across their faces. Eddie was the first to speak. "What? Buck, you can't be serious."

"I am," Buck replied, his eyes meeting Eddie's. "I can't stay here. Not after what happened."

"Buck, we didn't mean to hurt you," Hen said softly, regret in her eyes. "We were trying to protect you."

"Protect me?" Buck's voice rose, the pain breaking through. "By lying to me? By going behind my back? You call that protection?"

"Don't raise your voice Evan," Bobby said, standing up and approaching him.

"Family doesn't betray each other," Buck shot back, his voice cracking. "I trusted all of you with my life. And you... you kept secrets, made decisions without me. I can't work with people I can't trust."

"Buck, please," Hen pleaded. "Don't do this. We can fix this. We can make it right."

Evan shook his head, a tear escaping down his cheek. "It's too late. I need to find a place where I can start over, where I can rebuild that trust. And it's not here."

Eddies's eyes narrowed as he studied Buck's face. "Oh come on Evan you know there is no where else you can go" he said as he angrily chuckled.

"You don't know anything about," I said, emotion thick in his voice. "I just came to give you my resignation" I said as i gestured to the papers on the table.

With that, I turned and walked away, the echoes of my footsteps lingering in the quiet firehouse. As i stepped out into the sunlight, i felt a mix of sorrow and determination. It was the end of an era, but perhaps, just maybe, it was the beginning of a new one.

As i walked away, i couldn't help but hope that someday, i would find his way back to the family i had lost. But for now, i had to forge his own path, one step at a time, towards the sky he had always been destined to conquer.
