Seventeen comes from Pledis Entertainment. Pledis Entertainment are the makes of idol groups like, Nu'est and Hello Venus. Seventeen originally was planned to have 17 boy members but it ended up having 13 members. Seventeen is divided into three units, the Vocal Unit, Hip Hop Unit and the Performance Unit. To explain why the group is called Seventeen, there is 13 members, 3 units and one group so basically, 13+3+1=17. Seventeen at first was meant to be a 5 member group called Tempest but Pledis changed it. Pledis created a show for Seventeen called SEVENTEENTV which helped fans learn their names and personalities before they debuted. They were meant to debut in June, 2013 but instead they debuted in May, 2015.
