chapter four MARCH 4, 2023
"THIS LOOKS CUTE, right?" phoenix asked harper on facetime.
she was getting ready for another date with walker. she wasn't sure what they were going to do, he talked about going on a walk or something? honestly, she kind of zoned out when he asked her.
"yea, that looks so cute." harper assured her.
phoenix was wearing baggy jeans with a teal t-shirt, a black bomber jacket, and her mary janes. she threw her hair into two braids and put on hoop earrings.
"okay he's around the corner," she told her best friend after reading walker's text. "i'll call you later and tell you how it went."
"okay, have fun!" harper smiled and waved before phoenix hung up.
she grabbed a small black purse off her doorknob and threw in lip gloss, her wallet, her keys, and a pack of gum.
she rushed downstairs, grateful that her parents were in the room so they couldn't question her whereabouts.
she quickly texted her mom, "going out w harp!" while she walked out to the top step on her porch.
"hey, sadie." she looked up to see walker smiling at her.
"walker, hey!" she hesitated before jumping off her steps.
"okay, that would've been embarrassing if i didn't land that." she laughed as she walked up to him, giving him a hug.
"yea, i kinda thought you were gonna fall." he leaned over and put his arms around her.
"you have no faith in me, do you?" she pulled away and shook her head.
"yea, not really." he put his arm around her shoulders.
"so, where are we going?" she asked as they started walking.
"just for a stroll. you'll see."
"a stroll? you sound like a grandpa." she laughed.
"hey, maybe i am. don't judge." he said, his voice laced with sarcasm.
