I ran into the nearest bathroom, trying my hardest to keep my tears in. I wasn't alone for more than ten seconds when James walked in. Our eyes locked and we just stood there. I couldn't hold my anger in and I had to say something.
"You're a fucking asshole." He furrowed his eyebrows and crossed his arms.
"Dude, what the fuck is your problem?" He stepped closer, taking on an aggressive tone.
"Are you fucking slow?" I yelled out, taking another step closer. "I told you not to hurt me again! You made a promise!"
"Why are you acting like we're dating? You're a fuck buddy, stay in a fuck buddy's place."
"Fuck buddies don't kiss each other! You know damn well it was more than that, and you are the reason for that."
"I'm not the reason for shit! I'm not a fucking fag like you!"
That was the moment it felt like I truly lost my best friend. My anger had finally boiled over and I couldn't hold it back. I swung my hand forward and punched him in the face. He stumbled back toward the door. Blood trickled down from his nose and his lip was busted. I sort of shocked myself that I was able to cause that much damage. He looked at me in complete shock. wiping the blood off of his face.
"Don't you ever talk to me again you fucking dick." I walked past him and swung the door open. Taniya was standing there, a worried look on her face.
"Hey! Are you-"
"Let's just go to class," I cut her off and started to walk down the hallway. She quickly followed and started to ask questions, but I didn't answer. I couldn't even fully hear her, all my mind was thinking about was James. That and how big of a fool I was for thinking that he actually liked me. No matter what I was done with him. Now I could actually pay attention in school because I won't be thinking about him anymore.
We got back to class, got lectured for being 5 minutes late, and took our seats. I quickly took out my notes and caught up with the lesson, determined to forget about James. About 10 minutes later my attention was quickly stripped away when James walked in.
"Mr. Kage, you're late. You need to be on time for my lessons, this is an important class."
"I'm sorry Ms. Cameron, it won't happen again." She continued her lesson and James turned towards me and our eyes locked. Normally I would look away quickly, but I'm not going to let him get under my skin. I furrowed my eyebrows and and stared more intently. His eyebrows slightly lifted before he turned away and walked to his seat. I quickly turned back to my notebook, trying desperately to forget about him again, but it was hard to when I could feel James' eyes on me the whole class. If I could throw this notebook right at his stupid face I would.
Class eventually ended and I packed everything up. Me and Taniya walked out. James was standing outside of the classroom on his phone. He looked up when we walked out with the same blank expression on his face. I wasn't even gonna look him in the eyes, but Taniya had different plans.
"Asshole," Taniya spat, making him raise his eyebrows. As if I can't love Taniya even more, she does more to impress me. We walked off and she started to rant about how she had a weird feeling about him from the start. I climbed into her car and she drove off towards my house. The music was blasting, but I didn't even feel like singing along like I usually do, and Taniya noticed that.
"Holden, Don't Hurt Yourself is like your favorite song. And it's fitting for the moment. Sing along!" She patted me on the back before going back to singing.
"I'm not in the mood right now, Taniya," I mumbled before looking back out of the window again. We eventually made it back to my house. I said goodbye to Taniya and walked into my house. I walked upstairs and collapsed onto my bed. The tears I was holding in came quickly flowing out. I couldn't stop my sobs either. Laying on this bed just made me think about the last two weeks and how I let him take advantage of me. I looked up when I heard my door opening.
"Sup lil bro, what's wrong?" She said walking in with a concerned look. I laid my head back down.
"Nothing, I'm fine," I muttered, hoping she wouldn't pry more.
"I know what happened, Holden. You can talk to me." She sat next to me and patted my back. I sat up and gave her a confused look.
"You know what happened?" She sighed and looked away for a second.
"Taniya told me. Not everything, just the main details." Forget what I said, Taniya's dead to me. "Look, she told me how much you care about him, but if he's treating you bad, or not even acknowledging your emotions, that's not someone you should be with."
That made me realize that that's exactly what he's been doing. He doesn't care about how I feel. Even when he asked me to be his fuck buddy, obviously he didn't actually care about not hurting me. He just wanted to make me think so so he could have sex with me again. All this just made me hate myself even more for giving in to him.
"Thanks, Sasha. I think I'm done with him anyways." She smiled and nodded before hopping up.
"Come on, let's go get ice cream." She grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
"Wait! Sasha I have homework to do." She raised her eyebrow at me.
"And instead of doing it you would've spent you're time crying, so come on." I sighed and followed her down to her car. We spent the whole day together. I had to admit I missed her a lot. She always knew how to cheer me up when we were growing up. I also found out why she's back from college. Apparently her roommate has a crush on her and she's obsessed. I laughed about it for a good minute before telling her that she just needs to be honest with her. She sighed and nodded. We finally made our way back home and watched a movie or two before falling asleep together on the couch.
