BIRDY HAD KILLED A MAN.

She ended a life.

And it had been so quick. And so easy.

What was wrong with her? Why did she do that?

He wasn't a good man, but still.

There was a ringing sound echoing through her brain as she stared down at Tony's body, his eyes still open and boring into hers.

His blood pooled rapidly on the wooden floor, eventually reaching Rick's boots.

"Holy shit." Glenn whispered.

"You all right?" Rick asked him, the man nodding, before turning to face Birdy who stayed planted in her spot.

"Birdy..." He approached her, but she kept her eyes locked on Tony's, "Birdy." Rick reached for her gun and put the safety back on, "Look at me." He placed his hands on both sides of her face and forced her to look away from Tony's corpse, "It was my bullet that killed him, got it? That was me. His blood isn't on your hands. Okay?"

She nodded slightly, not really believing his words, "Okay." She whispered.

But she still did it. She pulled the trigger and shot a human being.

What the fuck is wrong with her? Why did she do that?

Hershel stepped over and placed a hand on Birdy's shoulder, "Let's head back."

Birdy watched as Rick raided Tony's pockets, grabbing shotgun shells while Glenn went behind the bar to grab Dave's weapon.

Hershel coaxed her towards the door, "C'mon, Alberta."

Rick had reached for the doorknob just in time for the sound of an engine and head lights to illuminate the now dark bar, "Car." He hissed, 

The group crouched down and hid away from the windows. The engine cut off and they heard the sound of car doors opening and closing, 

"Dave? Tony? They said over here?"

"Yeah."

"I'm telling you, man, I heard shots." Birdy swallowed nervously at the man's words.

Great. Not only did she kill a man, but she fired the shot that led his group to them.

"I saw roamers two streets over. Might be more around here."

The men continued searching the town, and Birdy prayed they wouldn't come into the bar. They stayed like that for another ten minutes before Glenn and Rick peeked out the window. Once the coast was clear, the four of them moved away from the windows to whisper to each other,
