Chapter 6.

Coriolanus
Coriolanus can't help but check his watch again.
In doing so he earned a rather loud and obnoxious cough from Festus Creed who was standing to his left along with his other groomsmen. He scoffed but got the message, be patient Coriolanus. He had been very patient. For seven years he'd been patient and now it was all about to pay off.
All he needed was for those large doors to open, revealing his bride, his girl, his Soarynn.
The proposal had been quite possibly the most nerve-wracking experience in his entire life and he'd run for President and won . Still, it went perfectly. He'd proposed in the greenhouse surrounded by roses just the two of them. He could've gone all out, hired an orchestra and a professional photographer, but he didn't. He held back for her.
Soarynn appreciated a good gift, an ornate gift, a grand gesture. But his girl was extremely sentimental and in the end he could get her a rock and she'd start crying. So he kept it simple. Mainly because he knew how opulent the wedding would be. Eudora had been in a permanent wedding planning frenzy the minute he proposed, in fact, she had predicted it and was only one day off from when he actually proposed.
Sometimes he didn't know whether to admire Eudora or be scared of her.
Right now he appreciated the hell out of the woman who sat proudly in the front row, a binder right next to her of course. Many wedding planners had written to him and Soarynn offering their services to which Eudora took great offense to. She quite literally threw every letter in the fireplace claiming she was the only one who could plan a wedding as important as this one. And she had.
The wedding of Coriolanus Snow and Soarynn Nightingale was said to be the wedding of Panem. Viewing was mandatory by the Districts and Capitol citizens were lining the streets outside in hopes to see the newlywed couple. There had been great discussion about where they would hold such an important event. This wasn't just any wedding, and even though he was a Snow that still didn't make it nearly as important as it was.
It was the joining of two young people who would simultaneously produce a First Lady of Panem and eventually, a future President.
The significance hadn't been lost on either of them about how important this wedding truly was. Becoming President without a wife led to a great controversy and marrying Soarynn would not only provide him with a wife, but the country with a First Lady. Once again, two birds, one stone.
Quintus had suggested they hold the wedding at the Avenue of Tributes since it had just been completed. In order to increase the grandeur of the Games they'd built a huge Avenue in the middle of the Capitol for the Tributes to be paraded down and be presented to Coriolanus who would stand on a tall podium and give a welcoming speech. This would be marked as the first time people got a good look at the Tributes and it was highly anticipated while it was being built.
They'd finished it only a month ago which was fitting since the Games were merely six months away. Quintus reasoned that it was perfect because no Tributes had stepped foot on it yet therefore it hadn't been tainted by District filth yet. They'd be the first to use it, once again cementing their place in Panem's history.
Eudora vetoed that.
Lucky Flickerman had of course volunteered his theater and even offered to be a live commentator.
