Sydney - Six Years Ago College Graduation Day

Six hours before graduation.

The campus is abuzz with excitement. Today is graduation day. Invitations have been sent out. The auditorium is ready. Celebrations are planned. In just a few hours I will be walking across that stage with the love of my life, my person, my mate, my Julian. Our future is set and nothing else looks so bright.

The plans have been made and the plane tickets purchased. We are already mated, but tomorrow we elope. The next month spent honeymooning. We scrimped and saved our entire college career together to afford it. Tiny wedding, big honeymoon; the total experience. Then we go home to start our jobs and real life.

I look at myself in the mirror. Hands shaking, I peer at the small paper sack on the counter. Hesitantly, I reach inside and pull out three boxed pregnancy tests. Blowing out a quick breath, I tear into each and lay them out on the counter to begin.

Sydney - Six Years Ago College Graduation Day.

Three hours before graduation.

Well, it's a little sooner than we expected, but we have plans to be married. This won't derail us. I take one last look at the positive pregnancy tests and put them in the blue and pink gift bag I went out and purchased. I thought I would do this right, so I purchased a little onesie that reads: "I love my daddy." I just have to figure out if I'm going to give it to Julian before or after we walk across the stage.

I know one thing is for sure, tonight at the graduation party, I will not be drinking. I have a pup in the oven. I smile and hug my stomach as I dream of the life we have to look forward to.
