Julian
Stone Mountain City Headquarters
It's Monday morning and I have been back in my office for a week now. The enforcers from the various packs have forwarded me the evidence and files from the @ss@ults on the women in the territory. We laid everything out and took photos. In the evidence reports, there had been a latex glove and a cigarette butt collected in two separate cases. The reports came back with traces of matching DNA on both, but nothing flagging in the system. Also, a couple of partial prints were pulled from both. There appears to be partial matches on those, enough to determine the same person committed both crimes. However, the perpetrator has never been arrested as we can find no matches in the system.
The first @ss@ult, which was Sydney, occurred in Sparksburg; but the remaining ones all occurred in Stone Mountain City. It reeks of someone at college with us that moved to the city after graduation. That's just my thoughts, but we need to examine every angle.
Along with those case files, I have the evidence files from the recent mate tampering cases. I need to go check on the prisoners this morning. Alpha Stone dropped off another prisoner yesterday, charged with mate bond tampering.
Since the security offices are in the basement of the Stone Mountain City Headquarters, we placed the cells in the same area. It is convenient when working with prisoners. It is just a walk across to the other side of the building. As I enter, I am surprised to see Alpha Devon Wright. He appears angry and worked up. Jeni, the youngest prisoner, is outright crying. She interfered with his mate bond and he is struggling to get his family back. I can imagine what transpired before I got here.
"Are you okay, Devon?" I inquire. "Where are my enforcers?"
"Sure, I am okay." He glares at the prisoners. "Your enforcer said his companion called in last night and he needed a bathroom break and a soda. So, I told him I would take care of it here until he returned. I'm due to go up to a meeting in a bit and I needed to address some things with Jeni Quinn. I also need to set up a time with you after my meeting to question Sheila Morris.
"Sure, that can be arranged. Just let me know when you all are finished with your meeting."
"Thanks. My enforcers, Hill and Fillion, are over in the evidence room with one of your enforcers, gathering copies of materials we need for the meeting."
I nod. I look into the windows of the five occupied cells. There is a speaker system on each door that allows you to talk in each one. There are cameras in the main block where we stand, and in each cell. As I am checking over the inmates, six men enter the block. "How did you get in here?"
The one in front speaks, "Julian, I have just come to reunite with my family." He laughs. He reaches in his pocket to take out a cigarette and lighter. His eyes light up as he inhales, blowing out the smoke with a satisfied sigh. Placing the lighter back in his pocket.
I recognize him immediately. Ironically, he is my cousin, Remington Reems, II. He is also a cousin to most of these prisoners, we all share a grandmother, Nelda Baird Reems, who was a witch. He and I graduated college the same year. "No smoking in here, Remington. You don't have clearance to be in here. If you want to visit a family member, there is a procedure."
"Ah, cuz, I don't want to visit. I have come to take them home." He waves his hand as if this was the most normal request. He points to the first cell door as blue lasers shoot out of his fingers. The door flies open. He rapidly repeats the process as all five doors spring open. "I think I'll release all five of your prisoners, just for the fun of it."
While preoccupied with opening the cell doors, Alpha Devon jumps on Remington from behind, slicing up his back with his claws. Since Remington is caught by surprise, he screams and twists, landing a blow so hard that Devon falls to the floor. Devon is staggering to stand, but he is not out. He jumps to his feet and launches for Remington, but due to his unsteady state, the henchmen are faster. Bringing him to the floor thrashing, they all hold him down while one of them produces a pre-loaded syringe. Before I can jump into the melee to assist, they have injected him. He stills, but he's still breathing, for now.
"Out, females!" Remington shouts in pain. Blood is dripping all over the floor. "Quickly, secure him and set the charges so we can get out of here!" Two of the henchmen grab me by the arms and push me into the hallway with the female prisoners, while they drag Devon's body out as well. Restrained, I watch as the others remove various wires, etc. from the bags they carry. Working quickly, they attach explosives to the outer wall, wind the wire out to the hallway. Once everyone is out, they shut the main entrance to the cellblock and detonate the explosives. The entire building quakes. The ceiling falls down, but thankfully, it is only the fiberglass tiles. A few beams drop halfway down, but remain in the ceiling on the other end.
Remington grabs the door. "Get the females and let's go!"
The female, Jeni shouts. "Bring Devon. He's my boyfriend!"
Remington hesitates a moment, then nods to his henchmen. All of them crowd into the main cell room, dragging Devon, they lock the door. Hill and Fillion, looking a little worse for wear, come out of the evidence room in a daze.
Grabbing my keys to the cellblock, I unlock the door and gape at the scene before me. The entire wall is missing and a tunnel has been blown out to the side to the surface. "Someone run get me an evidence collection kit. We need that cigarette, a sample of that blood and what is that?" I point to a small metal object. "Goddess is that a miniature brand of a wolf howling?" Did Remington just hand us the biggest piece of evidence in our @ss@ult cases? "Let's get this done and get out of here, this is probably unstable.
While I am collecting evidence the few enforcers with me, scout the basement for people to escort to safety. Once I have collected my samples, I go to my office, which looks untouched and gather the box of evidence and make my way out of danger.
