"𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄, 𝐋/𝐍! 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄!" you sighed deeply at the sight of the desperate boy before you. his brows were creased as he gripped the flowers in his hand. they were roses, pretty, but you didn't care for flowers.

you recognised him from one of your classes, and you had spoken to him a couple of times. the only conversations you had were school related though. you didn't have time for idle chatter.

"i'm sorry, but i have to decline." you said politely, painting a small sympathetic smile on your face, waving your hands infront of you. you noticed the boy's eyes saddening before he let his head drop to the ground in embarrassment.

"you seem nice, but i don't do relationships." you said, trying to make him feel a little better. he looked back up at you with a tight smile.

"i-its fine." he spoke, his voice failing him. "i heard you've never accepted a confession, but i just thought.." he trailed off, his lips tilting down in a frown. "never mind. sorry."

with that, he walked off dragging his feet behind in in defeat. you walked the opposite direction immediately, not glancing back at the heartbroken boy.

you had a reputation.

as the school president, you were regarded highly, and also people considered you a genuinely nice person. you were polite, helped others when they needed it. you also always managed to score the top of your class. the only 'flaw' people saw, was the fact that you rejected any attempts to win you over.

some people saw that as you being snotty, believing you were better than everyone else. but honestly, you just didn't believe in love, and you weren't going to distract yourself from your studies and duties by committing to a relationship. in your opinion, love was a waste of time. you didn't need a romantic partner to feel fulfilled.

as you walked down the school corridor, you waved and smiled to some of your classmates, all of them returning your gesture.

"y/n!" you heard a familiar voice from behind you before you felt a body pounce on you from behind. your best friend released you from her grasp, slotting in by your side to walk next to you. "i heard you shattered another heart today." yui teased, a small twinge of guilt penetrating your chest.

"geez, word gets around here fast." you sighed. "the guy seemed nice, but i don't-"

"you don't do relationships." yui finished your sentence for you and you nodded slowly. "well that's how you live your life, and no one can force you into a relationship. if that's what you're comfortable with then you've done nothing wrong." you gave her a small smile. she always knew how to comfort you whenever you felt guilty for upsetting someone.
