Zeus' other option did not sit well with me. And meeting Leto was an interesting experience.

The Titaness had remained neutral in the Titan War and spent her days running a baby shop in New York. Her shop sold everything from childbirth aids to baby clothing and strollers. I hadn't been certain why Zeus had elected to send me to Leto for my 'punishment', but it became very clear when I met the woman that Zeus was aiming to bore me to death.

The titaness of motherhood, childbirth and modesty and mother of Apollo and Artemis wore a white turtleneck knitted jumper and a pair of jeggings, her hair was pulled up by a claw clip and she had a pair of glasses hanging around her neck on a jewelled chain. If I hadn't known she was a Titaness, I would have assumed she would be a bible basher.

"Artemis!" She approached me as I entered the store with Artemis at my side, who had been tasked with delivering me to her mother.

"Hello mother," Artemis accepted the woman's hug and kiss on each cheek. Leto held Artemis at arms length and studied her.

"I do wish you would choose a form that more defitting of your station," Leto lamented. Artemis was in her usual form of a 12 year old girl. I could easily have been mistaken for her older sister.

"I know you do, but I prefer to present as my hunters do," Artemis replied.

"Ah yes, how are your hunters?"

"Many fell in noble battle against the giant Orion, their souls shall rest easily in Elysium," Artemis said.

Leto didn't seem very interested in Artemis' answer, her eyes had rested on me.

"Now who is this?" she asked, regarding me with curiosity.

"This is Ariadne," Artemis said, "Apollo's wife."

"Ah yes, the daughter of Nyx," Leto said, "and she is pregnant? Apollo's I presume?"

"Who else's would it be?" I demanded.

"Oh fiery!" Leto laughed, "I like her!" Leto's eyes seemed to bore into me and I got the impression she was giving me a full medical evaluation just by looking at me.

"Zeus has banished her from Olympus whilst Apollo awaits judgement, he has commanded that you are her custodian," Artemis said.

"Oh if Lord Zeus commands it!" Leto said, sarcasm barley masked in her voice. "What has Apollo gotten himself into this time?"

"I am trying to make father see reason," Artemis said.

"That will be a difficult job I am sure," Leto responded. I thought I detected sarcasm in her voice.

"Will you accept the charge?" Artemis ignored her mother's retort.

"I will always take in an expectant mother," Leto said. She turned to me, "come Ariadne, I'll get you a uniform and name badge. We will have you expertly selling strollers in no time."
