The stage was set up in the bustling plaza, surrounded by colorful buildings and twinkling lights.
EXT. ON STAGE
An EMCEE greeted the audience with enthusiasm.
EMCEE: Bienvenidos a todos! Who's ready for some música?
The audience cheered loudly.
EMCEE (CONT'D): It's a battle of the bands, amigos! The winner gets to play for the maestro himself, Ernesto de la Cruz, at his fiesta tonight!
Hector nudged Miguel as they made their way backstage.
Y/N: That's our chance, mon ami. We must win this.
EMCEE: Let the competition begin!
QUICK MONTAGE: Various acts performed on stage, including a tuba/violin duo, a saxophone player, a heavy metal band, a child playing marimba on the back of a giant iguana alebrije, a DJ with a laptop and keyboard setup, and even a group of nuns playing accordions.
EXT. BACKSTAGE
Miguel and Y/n stood among the other contestants, nervously awaiting their turn.
Y/N: So, what is your plan? What song will you play?
MIGUEL: I'm going to play "Remember Me."
Y/N cringed and stopped Miguel from strumming the guitar.
Y/N: Non, non, non. That song is too popular. Everyone will be playing it.
Backstage, they noticed several other acts rehearsing their own versions of "Remember Me." One man even played it using water glasses. Y/n gave Miguel a look, as if to say "see what I mean?"
MIGUEL: Uh, how about "Poco Loco?"
Y/N: Now that's a song I can get behind!
A stagehand approached them, clipboard in hand.
STAGEHAND: De la Cruzcito, vous êtes en attente! Los Chachalacos, vous êtes les suivants!
ON STAGE
A lively banda group took the stage, and the crowd erupted in cheers.
CROWD: Los Chachalacos!
The group launched into an impressive introduction, and the competition was fierce
Miguel peeks at the frenzied audience from backstage, looking nervous and fidgety.
Y/n: You always get stage fright before a performance?
Miguel: I've never performed before.
Y/n: Quoi?! You said you were a musician!
Miguel: I am! I mean, I will be. Once I win.
Y/n: That's your plan? You have to win, Miguel. Your life depends on it! And you've never done this before?!
Miguel: No, I need to do this. If I can't go out there and play one song, how can I call myself a musician?
Y/n: What does that matter?
Miguel: Because I don't just want to get de la Cruz's blessing. I need to prove that I'm worthy of it.
Y/n looks into Miguel's eyes and sees his determination. He softens and decides to help.
Y/n: D'accord, d'accord. You want to perform? Then you need to perform! First, you need to relax. Shake off those nerves!
Y/n does a goofy dance and Miguel laughs, starting to loosen up.
Y/n: Now, give me your best grito!
Miguel: My best grito?
