“Pssst.”

Nothing.

“Pssssst Liam.”

Still nothing.

“Huh what.” Liam picked up the small crumpled paper ball that was chucked at him. He heard muffled laughter to his left and looked over to find Claire facing front and desperately trying not to break.

“Okay class you can start your assignment now.” Chatter erupted through the classroom as students ignored their teacher and talked about their plans for the weekend.

“Have a nice nap Liam?” Claire asked turning to him and smirking.

“Great.” He grumbled out “So are you gonna be a good friend and tell me what I missed?”

“Of course but only if you answer one question.” Claire was reaching into her backpack getting out her planner to write something in it. Liam just shrugged in response and put his head back on his desk.

“What is wrong with you? You never sleep in class and I mean ever, are you having trouble sleeping?” Genuine concern was written on her face for him.

God why did she have to ask him that of all things.

“No it’s just the dreams I am having are sort of unsettling and just…” He left the sentence hanging in the air as Claire waited for him to continue. “Go on duffus I won’t make fun of you.” She prodded him with a slight elbow to the ribs. Liam stared off into the distance for a few seconds before starting.

“Okay so I’ve been having dreams about this girl” Claire’s laugh cut him off but it was cut short by his glare “Anyways all innocent I swear, and in these it’s like I’m her boyfriend and we go on dates and do you know couple stuff.” Claire looked at him oddly “And how is that weird?” Liam just glared at her again “Will you let me finish?” She nodded sheepishly and was silent.

“She has a boyfriend already.” Her mouth formed a small ‘o’ in realization. Claire was quiet for a few seconds then snapped her fingers.

“It’s Gwen isn’t it you two worked on your science project and now you love her don’t you!” She wrote something down on her paper but Liam grabbed her hand to stop her.

“It’s not Gwen.”

They shared eye contact for a few seconds before the bell rang breaking them from their reverie. Claire collected her stuff and got up to leave.

“I’ve got to go meet Ryan.” Claire could have sworn he growled under his breath but decided to brush it off “But if you really like this girl then I say go for it.”

Somehow Claire thought that advice would come back to get her somehow.
