Aubrey was shuffling her books in her locker not really wanting to go to her next class. That would mean she’d have to see him. Looking around she noticed Zayn walking up to his locker that was on the left of hers.
“Hey Aubrey.” He said with a quiet tone as he opened his locker.
“Oh hey Zayn, how was your Thursday?” Aubrey tried and failed horribly to hide her worry from Zayn. “Something is up go ahead and vent.” Zayn’s face was still covered by the locker making his voice echo as he searched for his books. “You know you are the best friend a girl could ask for!” She thought she heard some grunt from him but ignored it.
“Okay so last night I was working on a project over at Jared’s house and we’re were watching some old black and white movie that was super romantic and they were confessing their love for each other and then we turned towards each other and I thought he was gonna say I love you and he goes ‘I gotta go get the door’ and no one was there.” She took a moment to pout and to check if Zayn was listening with his head still within the depths of his locker. “We’ve dated since freshman year and now we’re seniors and I don’t think he’ll ever say he loves me.”
Zayn finally emerged from his locker and shut it a little louder than usual. He turned around to leave but stopped barely turning back towards Aubrey not making eye contact.
“He doesn’t deserve you and you defiantly deserve someone way better than that jerk.”
And with that Zayn walked down the halls the picture of calm and collected. Not even realizing he was leaving girls melting in his wake as he passed them.
Aubrey felt a weird twinge in her stomach and found herself smiling as she watched him take a left towards his history class.
