Upon arriving at the airport, I immediately saw Esther with a frown as she was busy typing on her phone. I sighed and hurriedly approached her and took her luggage.
"Glad you came! Magtitipa pa sana ako ng message."
I ignored her.
"Don't you even want to greet me? Like hello, welcome back to the Philippines! Or something..." she followed me from behind. Ranting.
We were already in the taxi and neither of us spoke during the trip. The only sound was the taxi driver's radio.
I immediately brought her belongings to a room when we arrived at the house.
I took a deep breath before saying, "Why are you here?"
I sat on the other seat and looked at her seriously.
"I just wanted to," she answered with folded arms, avoiding eye contact with me.
I clenched my jaw and wiped my face. "Do your parents know you're here?"
Gulo na naman ito.
She nodded.
"I'm tired. I'm going to sleep." She left and slammed the door to her room.
I shook my head.
"This is going to be chaotic again, Essy."
THE NEXT DAY, I woke up early and went straight to the kitchen to drink water. I washed up and changed into gym wear. I just ran around the area of the building where I lived. I jogged for an hour and a half before heading home.
It was only seven in the morning, so I decided to call Lily. While I was showering, I talked with her. I ordered food for her and had it delivered to her condo.
I dressed up and while drying my hair with a towel, I saw Essy making coffee.
"Ang laki ng ngiti natin, ah!" she teased as she sipped her coffee.
I ignored her and just passed by. I cooked breakfast for the two of us. Eggs, bacon, and toasted bread. I made my coffee. And we ate together.
"What?" I commented when I felt her staring at me. And she didn't hide it because when I looked at her, I saw her mischievous smile.
She shrugged and smirked before standing up and left.
Nang matapos akong kumain ay niligpit ko na ang pinagkainan ko.
Afterward, I changed into my work uniform.
"Essy, just stay here, okay? Don't cause any trouble-" I told Esther but she interrupted me.
"I'm not a child anymore, okay?! And Mom and Dad know that I'm here."
I looked at her without any reaction. "I know you didn't ask for permission. And that's going to be messy."
She just rolled her eyes and pushed me out. "Bye!" she said before slamming the door.
I just sighed.
At work, my mentor assigned me a lot of tasks. And I did them without complaining. My day at work became productive because of the work I had to do. My mentor gave me a 3-hour break during lunch break, so I am now on my way to Lily's university.
