Much like she had promised, Amara was not late to dinner. A little disheveled from hurrying back to the palace and making herself presentable after her meeting with her husband, maybe. She had pulled her hair into a half braided crown, smiling to herself as she hid the mark Hermes had left on her shoulder with some of her ashy brown waves.

She then changed into another gown, also grey but in a different, more formal cut before going towards the dining room. Her mother met her there, smiling.

Amara smiled back. "Hello Mother."

"My beautiful girl," Persephone took her hands.

Amara shyly looked down. There was something different about hearing her mother say it. When anyone else said it, Amara gave a wide beam that was completed with a blush. Only three people could make her feel shy and conscious when they called her beautiful. Her mother, her father and her husband. Whenever any of them called her beautiful, her face flamed so much she tried to hide it, embarrassed and shy.

"Mother," she said shyly, earning a laugh from her.

"Persephone, dear. There you— oh ? Who might this be ?"

Amara looked up to see a woman. She was older looking, her hair was a wheat blonde and her eyes were golden. Persephone took a deep breath, clearly not happy about something and trying to hide it. "This is Amara, my daughter."

"Daughter ?" The woman blinked. "I have a granddaughter who is old enough to marry ?"

"Grand...are you Demeter ?" Amara asked.

"Yes."

"Oh, hello," Amara smiled shyly. "It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise," Demeter said. Her eyes slid to her daughter, tilting her head in question. "Tell me dear, how is it that you never thought to mention you had a daughter this old ?"

Persephone opened her mouth but was cut off. "I asked her not to."

"Father," Amara curtsied.

Hades smiled at Amara, a hand placed on the back of her head. "Hello my girl. Why don't you head inside ?"

The young goddess looked into the dining room where other gods who had taken refuge were. "Alone ?" She asked her father.

"Your mother and I will only be a minute," he promised.

"Aren't you worried I might embarrass you by...well, by being me ?"

Amara tried to hold in her questions. She really did. But they just came out. With Hermes, she would have managed to hold back during their first meeting if she had left. Sure, then it would have eaten her alive and she would have ended up revealing to her father that she disobeyed him by asking him all her questions. But Hermes had accepted to answer what ever question she might have. He liked her curiosity. He found it endearing.

That didn't mean others did. And Amara knew that. She knew part of the reason she couldn't leave the Underworld was because her parents worried about her inability to hold her tongue. She technically was not bound to the Underworld like her sister Melinoe. Being conceived before Persephone had eaten the pomegranate seeds meant that technically, she could have left with her mother whenever she visited the world above. Her parents didn't let her though.

Her parents never told her why. And the only reason she hadn't squeezed the answers out of them with all her questions was because, to a certain degree, Amara already knew why. That reason was the very thing Hades was about to explain to Demeter.

He was lonely. He had to lose his wife every six months because of her mother's demands. If Demeter had realised that Persephone and Hades had a daughter from before they were even actually married, the goddess of harvest would demand that she join her mother every time Persephone left the Underworld. Then the Lord of the Underworld would truly be alone. He couldn't stand that thought.

That was why Amara was confined there. And why, despite her curiosity, she could never bring herself to ask Hermes to take her away for more than a few hours. Amara wanted to be there for her father.

"You could never embarrass me, my dear," he said. "We'll be right there."

Amara nodded, giving her mother a kiss on the cheek before shyly padding into the room. She looked around, finding a sizeable number of gods there. Now, Amara was no expert on how many gods lived on Olympus. But the amount she was seeing here....she had a bad feeling for Zeus.

"Oh hello." Amara turned her head, finding Hera there with a man with blue hair. "Amara, wasn't it ?"

"Yes, ma'am," she curtsied.

"Poseidon, have you met young Amara here ?" Hera asked. "Hades' daughter ?"

"I didn't know Hades had a daughter as old as you," the god said.

"He's protective," Amara smiled shyly. She pursed her lips, looking at Poseidon. "May I ask you something ?"

He blinked. "Of course."

"Why are you here ?"

"What do you mean ?" He tilted his head.

"Well, I might not have met any of you but my parents do talk about you sometimes," Amara explained, rambling slightly. "And, from all the stories, I always got the feeling you were closer to Lord Zeus. So how come you are here and not...on Olympus with him ?"

"Curious one, aren't you ?"

"I am technically the goddess of curiosity," she sheepishly smiled.

Poseidon smiled at her. "I might be close to my brother. But I am not foolish enough to anger my sister."

"Why is angering her foolish ?"

"What do you think ?" Hera asked.

Amara shook her head. "You do not want to know what I think."

"Has my dear brother been speaking ill of me then ?"

"Actually he does not talk about you at all if he can help it," Amara coolly told her. "Out of all of his siblings, the only ones he truly seems to enjoy talking about are Poseidon and Hestia. He will talk of the rest of you only to answer questions I might have."

Hera narrowed her eyes slightly. "And why does he not like me and Zeus and Demeter ?"

"That fact that you, the goddess of marriage, must ask why he does not like all of you, tells me that you might not be very good in your role."

Hera seemed furious but interrupted by Hades entering and calling attention for everyone to settle in for dinner. Amara promptly left the two gods she was with for her parents, happy to get away and be with people she actually liked.
