Chapter 2: Midnight Proposition

Lydia wakes to the soft hum of her loft's security system, the faint glow of the morning sun filtering through the reinforced windows. She stretches, her muscles sore from the previous night's hunt. The familiarity of her surroundings brings a sense of calm, a stark contrast to the chaos of her life as Eclipse.

She moves through her morning routine with practiced efficiency—stretching, a quick workout, and a light breakfast. As she sips her coffee, she lets her mind wander, savoring the rare moments of peace. The calm is abruptly shattered by the urgent beeping of her central console.

Lydia walks over and taps the console to reveal a priority message from the Monster Hunters' Association. Her eyes narrow as she reads the details: an Omega Class Monster, a Bio-Titan, is attacking the Frontier and rapidly moving toward the Glimmer.

Her heart rate quickens. This is only her second Omega Class Monster, and the first time she has faced one without the entire Top Ten—which was without Zero. She quickly discards her casual wear, suiting up in her X-Gear. The full-body armor, reinforced composite plates, and advanced nanofiber mesh offer maximum protection and flexibility.

She slips on her helmet, the heads-up display activating with thermal imaging and a breathing apparatus for hostile environments. Her gloves and boots are equipped with energy emitters and magnetic soles, and her utility belt bristles with high-tech gadgets, explosives, and medical supplies. The exoskeleton built into the suit enhances her strength and agility, essential for facing such a formidable foe.

"Eclipse, en route," she reports into her comm link, slipping back into her code name as she leaves the loft.

The streets of Neon Haven blur past as she speeds toward the Frontier on her hovercycle, its advanced AI navigation guiding her through the quickest route. The gravity of the situation weighs heavily on her, but she focuses on the mission. Assistance is coming in the form of Blaze and Archer, two of the top Hunters, but the responsibility of facing an Omega Class Monster is immense.

Arriving at the edge of the Frontier, she sees the Bio-Titan in the distance, a towering monstrosity of organic and synthetic parts. Its enormous form wreaks havoc, and the destruction it leaves in its wake is heading straight for the Glimmer.

Eclipse dismounts her hovercycle, the hum of its engine fading as she assesses the situation. The Bio-Titan's sheer size and power are intimidating, but she steels herself. She activates her comm link, coordinating with Blaze and Archer.

"Blaze, Archer, I'm in position. Let's take this thing down before it reaches the Glimmer."

As she prepares to engage, the familiar adrenaline surges through her veins. The thrill of the hunt, the challenge of facing the unknown—this is what she lives for. With a deep breath, she advances toward the Bio-Titan, ready to confront the apocalyptic threat head-on.

He is a force of nature, the fourth-ranked Hunter in Neon Haven, known for his fierce temper and unwavering loyalty.

Archer is a stark contrast, perched on a high vantage point with an air of calm detachment. His eyes, sharp and calculating, miss nothing. The fifth-ranked Hunter, his precision and control over kinetic energy make him a deadly marksman. He is methodical, always a few steps ahead, but his desire for control often borders on manipulative.
