Alex's eyes fluttered open, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was in a hospital room, surrounded by beeping machines and sterile white walls. But something felt off. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head, making her gasp.
"Easy, Alex," a soft voice said. "You've been in an accident. You need to rest."
Alex's eyes focused on the nurse standing beside her bed. "What...what accident?" she stammered.
The nurse's expression was sympathetic. "You were in a car crash, Alex. You've been in a coma for several days."
Alex's mind raced as she tried to remember. But there was nothing. No memories, no thoughts, just a vast emptiness. She felt a wave of panic wash over her.
"What's my name?" she asked, her voice shaking.
"Your name is Alex, dear," the nurse replied. "You're 27 years old, and you work in marketing at Nova Branding."
Nova Branding? The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. Marketing? What did that even mean? Alex felt a sense of desperation creeping in. She needed to remember.
The nurse handed her a mirror. "Maybe this will help," she said.
Alex took the mirror, hesitantly looking at her reflection. A stranger stared back at her, with piercing green eyes and long, curly brown hair. Who was this person?
Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she realized she had no idea who she was, what she did, or where she came from. The nurse's words echoed in her mind - "You've been in a coma for several days." How much of her life had she forgotten?
The nurse handed her a notebook. "Maybe writing things down will help you remember," she suggested.
Alex took the notebook, her hand shaking as she began to write. "My name is Alex...I'm 27...I work in marketing at Nova Branding..." But the words meant nothing to her.
As the days passed, Alex struggled to regain her memories. She remembered fragments - a meeting at Nova Branding, a conversation with a colleague, a project she had worked on - but nothing concrete. Her mind was a jigsaw puzzle, with pieces missing and no clear picture.
The nurse told her about her friends at Nova Branding, her colleagues who had visited her in the hospital. Alex felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe they could help her remember.
But as she tried to recall her life before the accident, she realized she had no family. No parents, no siblings, no one to turn to. She was alone, with only her friends at Nova Branding to support her.
As the days turned into weeks, Alex began to piece together her life. She remembered her favorite coffee shop, her favorite book, and her favorite movie. But the memories were hazy, like a dream she couldn't quite recall.
The nurse told her about the car accident, the confrontation with Julian, and the fraud scheme at Nova Branding. But it was all just words, devoid of context.
Alex felt trapped in a never-ending nightmare, desperate to wake up and remember who she truly was. But the void persisted, a constant reminder of her forgotten life.
And so, Alex began to write, pouring her thoughts and feelings onto the page. Maybe, just maybe, the words would bring back her memories, and she could reclaim her lost life.
