(Adeline POV)
I just stepped off the plane, and stretched my aching limbs. I officially HATE planes. So cramped and my body is sore because the stupid guy next to me kept pushing himself and his legs more onto my side, like, excuse you!?? Ughh. And his breath smelt like onions, never again. Traumatic.
Forgetting about my flight trauma I began to get excited when I saw the black wrangler jeep parked in front of the airport, and the high pitched squeals of my best friend echoing in the car park walls. Of course, Viola.
"Addy!!! You're here!" She squealed as we both ran to eachother and gave each other a tight, much needed hug. I hadn't seen her in so long, and we missed each other like crazy. Viola was my lifeline for the past few years, she kept me sane and was one of the 2 best (and only) friends that I had.
"Yes Viola!" I hugged her tighter, breathing in her lavender, calming scent. "I'm here, V, finally." I sighed out finally feeling at peace.
"Am I dreaming?? Are you sure!? Pinch me!" She said dramatic as ever, I stifled a small laugh and looked up at her with grinning eyes but a deadpan expression.
"Really? We just hugged what more proof do you want?" I rolled my eyes and we both laughed as we started making our way towards her car.
I whistled lowly as I saw the nice leather interior of it, along with the new modifications she made as I got in.
"Like it huh Adds? Just got this beauty fixed up for your glamorous arrival" she grinned, cheekily might I add.
I laughed in response, knowing that's the excuse she used to give to her brothers to explain her spending addiction. But hey, who am I to judge, she uses her own money so. (I shrugged mentally).
"Sureeee V, we'll go with that, not like you use that as an excuse so your brothers don't put you in retail therapy or anything" we both looked at eachother after that and started to cackle like hyenas.
I grinned, finally feeling at home and like myself. More than ever, I felt free...
After a while we turned into a long gravel road just off the highway, barely noticeable unless you'd been looking for it. We slowed down when we saw a large gated entrance with guards in front of it and a big letter R engraved in silver near the top of the gate. For Romero. Viola Romero.
"Wow V your house is beautiful" I murmured to Viola as we went through the gates and my eyes. Met a large mansion, with a circular fountain out the front of it and a massive driveway filled with hundreds of cars...ok maybe not hundreds but you get the point.
"Thank A, this is your home for the next few weeks too now, and whenever you want to come here you're always welcome, you know that right?" She stopped me in front of the door of the mansion, both hands on my shoulder facing me towards her. "We are sisters A, if you ever need me for anything, you let me know" she smiled and gave me a quick hug after her emotional pep talk.
My eyes were slightly watery, but I blinked the tears away and replied sarcastically.
"Awhh don't go soft on me now V, what happened to the big bad shadow" I grinned at her shoving her gently, making her laugh.
"Don't worry Adds, she's still here" she winked at me, giving me a wicked grin before knocking on the front door of the mansion in front of us.
I forgot to tell you, she doesn't belong to just any ordinary family, I'm guessing you know that already though. You know, with us being in Italy, her being called Shadow, you must of connected the dots already.
Her family, the Romero's, run the 2nd ranking mafia in the entire world. The Italian mafia.
Just as I finished the end of my thoughts, and me and V's little one-to-one, the door swung open and i was met with 4 sets of eyes staring back at me through the door...
:)
Hopefully this isn't too cliche, I like the typical mafia story anymore than the next person but I think the plot needs to change slightly to make it a bit more spicy you know? :/
Soz for the short chapters, I'll work on it...
someday.Enjoy:)
