There she is standing, in front of her mirror in her new room of the familiar old house. Ever since they all moved into the house of their dead grandmother, it wasn't the same as before.
Briana looked at herself, after putting on fresh clothes for her first school day, with a small smile on her face. Proud of herself for accomplishing her biggest goal: becoming an actual girl. She started developing curves over the time with help of hormones, and she finally felt comfortable in her body. Even if she had gained a bit of weight... But she didn't mind.
Briana made sure that everything was sitting perfectly on her, her long, black hair falling over her shoulders smoothly. Perfect for the first day. What could go wrong after all? It was a new beginning... At least she thought so.
Her thoughts were getting interrupted by her mother calling out to her: "Kyle, get downstairs! Or I will leave you here and you'll walk!" Briana froze. Her deadname. As always... Of course, her mother wouldn't change after moving.
"Yeah, I'm on my way..." Briana then called out, picking up her school bag and walked down the stairs.
As soon as she arrived downstairs, her brother Alex smiled at her. "Good morning, Briana, did you sleep well?" He asked her, and she couldn't help but smile. At least one of the family who called her by her name.
"I slept pretty well, surprisingly. But I'm still nervous for today." Briana explained, letting out a sigh. "Yeah, understandable, considering the fact that Mom probably put your Deadname into the school informations." Alex replied, looking a little worried.
"Listen, when you correct them and tell them your actual name, and they give stupid comments... Just call me, okey?" He then reassured Briana, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I'll make sure that they use your name."
Briana couldn't help but chuckle. "Thanks Alex... You're the best." "Oh, I know that." Alex then joked, smirking a little. He was always kinda cocky and arrogant... But in a nice way.
"Stop talking so much and get into the car." Their mother then suddenly interrupted the conversation, already walking out the door. Briana sighed a little, following along with Alex next to her.
But when they got to the car, Briana saw a figure from the corner of her eyes, standing near the house in front of the forest that went along behind their house... She blinked a few times, and the figure was suddenly gone. Thinking for a moment, she turned to Alex, looking confused. "Did you see that too?" She asked, glancing back at the forest.
Alex looking past her to the forest too, raised an eyebrow. "No? You probably just saw a deer or something." He responded, while getting into the car.
Briana nodded a little, staring a little longer into the forest, before getting into the car too.
