"If I abandoned you here, sir... I could never join the defense force!" Loudly exclaimed Reno who was ready to defend Kafka despite his nervous hands and trembling feet.
Kafka stared at Reno with frustration, yes he is frustrated that Reno came back but most of it was on him, frustrated that he is powerless, he hasn't changed a bit, he cant protect anything, not his game console, his friends cat... Not even his rookie from his job.
The fucked up Kaiju loomed over and lunged towards them, opening its mouth wide.
Terrifying.
The head of the road sign can't stop it from proceeding to eat them whole. The only word present in Kafka's mind is the word:
'Dammit!'
But before that fucked up Kaiju could even swallow them, someone with a feminine voice shouted "With that bravery of yours, you'll make a wonderful officer if you pass the exams, kid!"
It came from above but they didn't have a chance to look up as the individual already descended down and killed the Kaiju with just one attack.
The Kaiju couldn't even let out a sound as it gets slashed up by the blades of the individual. Kafka and Reno were taken aback, awe plastered on their faces but mostly relief swarms them, adrenaline slowly cascades off from their system, as Reno falls to his butt but his eyes never shake off from their savior.
Dust clears and Kafka noticed her short blond hair swaying from the wind, he swore that voice and hair felt familiar, oddly so. She turns around, finally exposing her face to them, a wide smile with a determined expression.
"You alright, boys?" She says as she puts her blades on her shoulders.
First Division Second Vice-Captain Hoshina Matsuri
"Hoshina Matsuri, nice to meet you, Fledglings." She introduced herself, the blue diamond shape inside her iris protruding.
Reno could feel her optimism from over there and he felt abnormally assured just by seeing her smile, his chest blooming like a flower at the sight of sun.
Eventually, Matsuri turned her head around to look at her surroundings, she never got to explore because as soon as she stepped in to the area, her senses blared harshly at her, an instinct to protect.
It was the downside of possessing an equipment made out of the body of a kaiju but when she heard a certain heartbeat, she couldn't help but smile and thank the Kaiju for double heightening her senses.
