Chapter 8

Adeline was my only friend.She stayed with me through thick and thin and I love her for that.

"I thought you were coming next week. How'd you get in? "I ask her as I stand up from my position on the bed to turn on my Xbox.Were pretty competitive when it comes to Need for speed shift.Were both sore losers and not to ad the winner has bragging rights.

"I got a better flight because our parents were already boring me with politics and plans for college so I needed to get away ASAP.Also because I missed you."She stands up and sits on the beanbag chair next to me as I turn on the game.

"And you really should consider putting the key anywhere else other than under the mat.And change your bodyguards because their useless.My bag fell down the staircase about four times and they didn't even blink."She told me taking out a popcorn stash in the beanbag.Yes,I hide my stash of comfort food in a beanbag.It had a zip so it I could hide it easily.

She knows me so well.

We laugh together until I ask her a question.Sadly the answer got me in tears.

"You took a cab alone?You know it's not safe."I tell her.

"Please. You're looking at the person who took down Ace at Judo.I think I can handle myself."

The moment she processed her words she covered her mouth at the mention of him.

I feel my eyes get watery as I remember what I did to him.Why he left.He didn't want to but I put his life in danger.

"I'm sorry.I didn't mean it."She said softly giving me a hug.

I let out a small sob,"No,it's ok.I just can't get over it."I say as I dry a stray tear on my cheek.

We play in silence but it doesn't last long.

"No!-No!-No!"I hear Adeline yell as I cross the finish line with her just milliseconds after me.

"Yes!"I yell loudly and start doing an embarrassing dance all around the room.

"Hey,I brought you some cof...Holy shit.Who is she?"I saw Mike with a coffee mug in his hands when he walked in my room,surprised to see Adeline.

"This is my cousin,Adeline. She's staying with us for the rest of the vacation."I tell him as he looks at her with shock.Then his face curves into a half moon smile.

"Does this mean I have to make another coffee?"He asks.

"Lucky for you I don't drink coffee."Adeline said before going through her suitcase.

"Were going to a beach party.Wanna come.You can then tell me why your living here."She told him and shoves him out so we can get dressed.

"Were what?"We ask her simultaneously.

Adeline always knows when there's a party nearby. Her blonde hair and barbie like personality has gotten the strongest of men to her feat.She's the exact opposite of me.

What would the world do if everyone was the same?

"A-beach-par-ty."She says the words slowly."Now go get dressed."

"...and that is why they are living with us." I finish of my story I was telling Adeline who is driving at the moment. Mike is in the back seat listening to the very cruel remarks I made of them showing up.

"And we're here."she tells us putting the car in park.

She is as per usual the first one out.She is a very hyperactive person.
